You'll get fast, accurate measurements of distance, angle, relative height and height between two points on a given tree with the Forestry Pro Laser Rangefinder from Nikon. Readings are visible in the viewfinder and on an external display on the side of the unit. Nikon Forestry Pro reviews

Forestry Pro Laser Rangefinder is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice little unit The unit came fairly fast, got slowed down by xmas season. It is what I expected and should be very handy for what I need it for. The only negative that I noticed is in playing with it I have not been able to lock onto anything farther then 250 meters. It is winter time here and maybe the cold could affect the distance I'm not sure. Haven't played with a lot so we will see how further testing goes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product I am a forester, I use the Forestry Pro for tree height measurements, finding slope angle, slope distance, and horizontal distance. It is a good tool, accurate and easy to focus. Switching between modes takes a little getting use to and keep the instructions close at first.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it but.... My second one. Works great. But. 2 years with my first one, it fails Nikon looks at it for a month. Then tells me can't be repaired ! They buy them from China , potted electronics no way to repair. Nikon could have just told me I was on my own and they done stand behind the product. Now that I understand that, the product reliability is just the luck of the draw, I can accept they don't care. Too bad, nice tool, but I would not recommend it due to Nikon's service.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works for OSP Pole Line Mapping I do contract pole line mapping projects. I have purchased two Forestry Pro rangefinders to use where a measuring wheel would not work, or would be less accurate. I began by checking the actual distance between two wooden poles with the wheel and then checked back to the starting pole with the rangefinder. The rangefinder is consistently within 1 foot. I really like the readout on the side of the unit. It makes recording measurements much easier. At distances exceeding 300 feet it becomes a little more difficult to keep the rangefinder on target. Keep in mind that there may be limbs in the foreground or background. If there is much clutter I am back to the wheel. The ability to calculate heights is great and I have tested it. It just isn't as useful in my line of work. Battery life is very good. I do carry spares since running out would cause lost time. I would definitely recommend this unit for production work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for general forestry purposes on a budget. Great for the price and purpose. This was designed for forestry use as the name implies, not carpentry, surveying or anything requiring great accuracy. Minimum range is 10 meters (32.8') and I think the accuracy is no more than +/- 1'. The greatest thing about it is the price, there is nothing else that can do this within this price range.
