The Native Eddie Kramer Tape, Tubes, & Transistors Collection from Waves is a bundle of 3 plug-ins for tracking and mixing designed to emulate vintage analog gear. Created in collaboration between Waves and engineer and producer Eddie Kramer, the collection includes the Kramer Master Tape, modeled on a 1/4" reel-to-reel machine; the PIE compressor, modeled on the analog Pye compressor; and the HLS Channel, modeled on a channel strip from a Helios mixing console. All support RTAS, AudioSuite, AU, & VST plug-in formats on Mac and PC.

  • Kramer Master Tape - Vintage Tape Machine Modeling Plug-In (Native)

    Kramer Master Tape Native from Waves is a plug-in that features tape effects, all modeled after a rare vintage 1/4" reel-to-reel machine. Control is provided over tape speed, bias, flux, wow & flutter, and noise parameters. Also available is a flexible slap and feedback delay, suitable for use on many different styles of music. For recording, mixing, mastering, the software can add the richness and warmth of real tape saturation.

    Controls

    • Speed - selects the simulated tape speed
    • Monitor - selects the monitoring mode
    • Bias - controls the level of the ultrasonic bias signal
    • VU Meter - displays input or output level
    • VU Calibration - controls the VU meter headroom calibration
    • Delay Time - controls the time of the tape delay effect, with settings for 7.5 ips (266 ms) and 15 ips (133 ms)
    • Delay Type - toggles between delay modes
    • Feedback - controls the amount of the delayed output signal
    • Lowpass - controls the LP cutoff frequency on the delay path
    • Record Level - controls the input level
    • Link I/O - links record and playback levels controls
    • Playback Level - controls the total signal output level
    • Flux - controls the level of simulated magnetic radiation emitted from the record head
    • Wow & Flutter - controls the speed and gain modulations and fluctuations
    • Noise - controls the level of added modeled noise but not noise modulations and signal additive noise
  • Eddie Kramer PIE Modeled Compressor (Native)

    The native Eddie Kramer PIE Modeled Compressor from Waves is a mono and stereo compressor plug-in modeled on the vintage analog Pye compressor heard on numerous classic rock records. The plug-in emulates the original Pye down to replicating the naturally occurring analog noise and hum from the unit, which can be switched off depending on your preference. The compressor itself has compression ratios up to 5:1 as well as a limiter mode. It features auto make-up gain and can handle resolutions up to 24-bit and 192kHz.

    Controls
    • Threshold: sets the gain reference point beyond which compression begins
    • Ratio controls: the amount of gain reduction for signal above the threshold
    • Decay Time (Release Time): sets the recovery speed of the gain attenuation when the input drops below the threshold
    • Output: sets the output level
    • Meter Select: toggles between Input, Output, and Gain Reduction metering
    • Analog: controls analog characteristics caused by noise floor and hum, based on the power supplies of the original units
    • VU Meter: displays input or output level in dBVU
    • Clip LED: lights up when levels exceed 0 dBFS
    • VU Calibrate: controls the VU meter headroom calibration
  • HLS Channel - Helios Console Modeled Channel (Native)

    The HLS Channel Native from Waves models a Helios mixing console just like the one used in historic sessions at London's acclaimed Olympic Studios.

    HLS Channel was developed in association with producer/engineer Eddie Kramer, one of the premier engineers at Olympic Studios during that classic period of rock n' roll. Waves modeled the unique behavior, coloration, and drive of the Helios console's preamps. The equalizers were modeled for their sweet saturation, high-end presence, and fat low-frequency boost. Waves even modeled the console's inherent noise and hum. The HLS Channel also features a precision-modeled VU meter that recreates the sensitivity, ballistic behavior, look, and feel of the original.

    Modeled on a Helios from the Rolling Stones mobile truck, which was used on classic recordings in the early '70s

    Controls

    • Source Select: toggles between Mic and Line levels
    • Preamp: determines the amount of preamp coloration
    • High Frequency Gain: controls high shelf gain at 10 kHz
    • Mid Gain: sets the amount of gain applied to the midrange bell filter
    • Mid Frequency: selects frequency for the midrange bell filter
    • Mid Mode: selects between boost (PK) and cut (TR)
    • Low Band Freq/Cut: selects the boost frequency, or attenuation of the 50 Hz low shelf
    • Low Band Boost: sets the amount of boost (in dB) for the selected frequency
    • EQ Cut: turns the EQ on (in) and off (cut), while maintaining the analog and preamp characteristics
    • Analog: toggles analog noise and hum modeling on/off, and sets hum pitch to either European or American current
    • Noise: pads the modeled noise and hum by 20 dB
    • Meter: toggles the meter display between input and output monitoring
    • Clip LED: lights up when levels exceed 0 dBFS
    • VU Meter: displays input or output level in dBVU
    • VU Calibrate: controls the VU meter headroom calibration
    • Trim: displays the maximum peak level of the output signal and its distance from 0 dBFS
    • Input: controls the input level
    • Output: controls the output level
