The Golden Age Project PRE-73 MKII is a vintage-style, solid-state preamplifier that uses only discrete components and provides a variety of input and output options. The unit has a warm and punchy sound, and has similar circuitry to the classic 1073 module.
The PRE-73 MKII has a transformer-balanced mic input that can be switched between impedances of 1200 and 300Ω, resulting in a different sound at each setting on most mics. The rear panel has two combo XLR/1/4-inch jacks: one for mic-level sources and one for line-level sources. You can even plug-in mic and line sources simultaneously. A 1/4-inch instrument input is located on the front panel.
The unit also offers selectable output termination (requires removing a jumper), separate 1/4-inch TRS and XLR output jacks, absolute phase and phantom power switches, and input and output volume knobs.
