The Sirui PH-20 Gimbal Head is a great solution to the problem of shooting moving subjects with a long telephoto lens. Ball heads and 3-way heads can be cumbersome in fast-moving situations, but the gimbal head makes your camera and heavy lens seemingly weightless, and you can smoothly and precisely track fast-moving subjects.

Cross-patterned, multi-layer carbon fiber in the arm and forged aircraft aluminum alloy in the L-bracket make the PH-20 very strong--it can hold up to 44 lb, but it weighs only 2.4 lb. Carbon fiber also reduces vibrations and provides better tolerance for temperature changes.

With the camera and lens perfectly balanced on the gimbal head, there’s no need to lock any controls. You can quickly and easily move your camera in any direction with a very light amount of force. In fact, a correctly aligned system can be controlled with one finger.

This is not a fluid head, but it will allow you to position a long telephoto lens attached to your camera more quickly without having to unlock it all the way.

Is the LENS FOOT for Sony 400 mm f2.8 compatible with this gimbal?
Asked by: Brett
That's the only lens I have used with this gimbal head - it works fine. I do attach the quick-release plate (that comes with the gimbal head) to the 400 / 2.8 foot (which then allows easy adjustments when balancing). I see that B&H has indicated you need to buy the quick-release plate separately - I did not do that. Note on B&H page for this product: "In the Box: ... quick-release plate".

I have a sirui T2205x tripod and wonder how the sirui PH20 gimbal head would work on this tripod with a canon 1dx with a 600mm lens (about 11 lbs or so)?
Asked by: Charles
The Sirui T2205X has a rated capacity of 26.5 lbs. Typical advice on tripod weight bearing is 2x the actual load weight. Your setup of camera body/lens/gimbal head will be almost 15 lbs. You should use a heftier tripod.

Is it possible or advisable to use this gimble head on the Sirui P-326 monopod?
Asked by: troy
I would not recommend using a gimbal head on a monopod. Use the Wimberley MonoGimbal head instead. Regular gimbals are better on a steady platform such as a tripod.

question

Is Sirui T2005X tripod (rated 26 lb) okay to be used with this PH-20 gimbal that will carry/balance Nikon D500 (2 lb) and the 14 5lb Tamron 150-600mm G2 lens (Nikon 200-500mm)?
Asked by: Koan C.
The typical advice on tripods is that the rated weight capacity should be at least 2x what the actual weight of the load will be. IMO, the Sirui T2005X tripod is probably a little light weight for what you want to do, if you really want a rock-steady platform.

what type of tripod does this gimbal fit on?

what type of tripod does this gimbal fit on?
Asked by: Cindy
I have used my Sirui gimbal head on numerous tripods and monopods. It depends upon what I am shooting and what I want/can carry. For flying insects and some birds I use monopod, otherwise everything from a traveling tripod or a mini-tripod to my big, heavy and sturdy tripod. Remember u have the weight of the camera, lens and head. Test it out at home, review some on line videos and have fun.

Asked by: Cindy
I don't know why you couldn't. I have used mine on a Benro tripod and Ifootage monopod with no problems. Great thing about B&H is that if it doesn't work you can return.
