Upgrade the audio quality in your video productions by switching from the built-in mic on your camera to the Sennheiser MKE 600 battery- or phantom-powered shotgun microphone. Its focused directional characteristics and resistance to structure-borne noise offer sonic results well suited to a variety of production scenarios from independent films and web series to nature shows and documentaries.

The MKE 600's high sensitivity and low-noise circuitry unlock improved sound quality without extreme gain on noisy camera preamps. With a natural roll-off at 40 Hz and a selectable low-cut filter at 100 Hz, the MKE 600 can deliver clear intelligibility while attenuating low-frequency noise such as rumble. Plus, its frequency response incorporates a gentle rise in treble to enhance speech clarity.

The lightweight and durable metal housing ensures reliable toughness without weighing down your rig. The included shoe shockmount accommodates mounting the MKE 600 to a camera or tripod. Connect the mic's XLR output to an XLR-equipped mic preamp or use the supplied adapter cable to plug it into the 3.5mm mic input on a camera.

Quality Sound
The 10" long MKE 600 uses an interference tube and a supercardioid/lobar polar pattern to provide pronounced directivity on-axis along with significant attenuation of sound entering at the sides and rear, making the MKE 600 far more effective at capturing distant sources than the omnidirectional mics found in most cameras.
Bass Roll-Off
The MKE 600 naturally reduces sub-bass frequencies below 40 Hz to prevent unnatural bass buildup. Activate the switchable low-cut filter at 100 Hz to roll off more low-frequency noise from common sources such as air conditioners and traffic.
Battery or Phantom Powered
Thanks to its 3-pin XLR output and compliance with 48 VDC phantom powering, the MKE 600 is compatible with a variety of handheld audio recorders, field recorders, and mixer adapters, as well as built-in preamps on many camcorders and cinema cameras.

When using devices that don't offer phantom power, the MKE 600 may be powered for up to 150 hours by a single AA battery (included). Approximately 8 hours of operating time remain once the low-battery indicator lights up red. Use the on/off switch to prevent unnecessary battery drain.
Ideal for Camera, Tripod, or Boompole Mounting
The MKE 600 includes a shoe shockmount for easy placement on your camera or a tripod. To mount the MKE 600 on a boompole or mic stand, use the Rycote InVision INV-HG mkIII shockmount (available separately), which will also impede the transfer of vibrations between your boompole/stand and the mic.
XLR to 3.5mm TRS Adapter Cable for Cameras
Included with a MKE 600 is a short coiled adapter cable—XLR female to 3.5mm TRS male—that lets you connect the mic directly into a mini-jack mic input on a camera.
Windscreen Minimizes Wind Noise
The MKE 600 has a foam windscreen to reduce unwanted wind noise from breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners by up to 25 dB. Enhanced attenuation of wind noise is possible with the addition of an optional windshield such as the Rycote 15cm Super-Softie, which also provides high immunity to rain.

For maximum reduction of handling noise and wind noise in indoor or outdoor environments, consider a complete windjammer, windshield, and shockmount suspension system such as the Rycote Super-Blimp NTG or the large Rycote Super-Shield Kit (both available separately).

Used this for the first time on a short film where a good portion was filmed outside on super windy days. It worked way better than expected and was absolutely worth the money.

A reliable and versatile microphone for any videographer

The MKE 600 Shotgun microphone is an excellent choice for high-quality audio for video productions. I've used this in noisy environments on location shoots and was very pleased with the results. The extremely long battery life and durable metal body make it a solid choice in-studio and on-location.

Still the best mic for my use

This is my 3rd MKE 600. I have tried other mics but none have the same quality and diversity. I do a lot of run and gun type shooting. Sometimes I am within 3 feet of the subject, other times I am 10 or more feet back. It picks up the sound really well. And because of the design it can cancel out or minimize the sound from beside and behind the mic while getting a great capture from in front of the mic. The only thing I wish is that they had one that was shorter. It does not replace a lav but if you can not or do not want to use a lav this is the next best thing (for me anyway).

8 Years and still going strong

Bought this microphone 8 years ago and I've used it on every shoot since then with absolutely zero issues. The thing is an absolute tank and has proven it's worth in every possible environment. Bonus that it can also run on a AA battery in case you can't provide power to the mic. This is a piece of kit you'll have for 10+ years. Skip the $100 Rhode and buy something that'll last.

Great Sounding Mic But...

I think the connector is upside down. I bought this with a 90 cable thinking it would work great for my XA50, but the 90 connector points straight up in the air. I guess it still keeps the cable out of the way but I definitely didn't expect that. It doesn't matter when it comes to performance or anything, but you may want a straight XLR cable with this one.

The unit that I received was DOA. The battery power does not

The unit that I received was DOA. The battery power does not function, returned to BH and received either another unit with the same issue or the same unit back. very unfortunate as I was really looking forward to using this microphone.

Have been a lifelong fan of Sennheiser mics and headphones. This is my first shotgun mic and it's great. Primary use is mounted on a Canon XA-50 for run & gun video. Looking forward to using on a boom pole. Sound is exceptional!

The XLR connector on the MKE 600 appears to be upside down, is this the case with all Sennheiser shotgun mics, or just the MKE 600?
Asked by: Craig
I never mentioned it's performance, However, if you simply "look" at the microphone, you will see that the the prongs are upside down from other mics (one prong on top, two on the bottom. Therefore, when using an XLR cable with a right angle, it points up instead of down. Is this more clear? My question is the same... is this normal for the German made Sennheiser mics OR just the MKE 600?

Is this mic good for singing?

Is this mic good for singing?
Asked by: Patrick
Hi Patrick - while the MKE 600 is an exceptionally versatile microphone for voice applications with respect to interviews, voice over and use cases that require a highly directional polar pattern, it wouldn't be my first choice for singing. Sennheiser offers a wide range of microphones for vocals and I'd direct you to one of our best sellers: e 835. Please feel free to reach out to B&H directly via chat, email or over the phone and I'm certain their team can help guide you once they have a better understanding of your specific application and needs.

The MKE 600 is shown taking 1.5 volt AA batteries. Can it handle a 3.7 volt AA lithium battery?
Asked by: Jack
No, a 3.7V AA lithium battery is not compatible for use with the Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun Microphone. Sennheiser recommends using only 1.5V or 1.2V single-use or rechargeable AA batteries with the MKE 600.

Is this mic also compatible with portable recorders, such as a Tascam DR-100 MKII?
Asked by: Emily P.
I use this mic with a Tascam DR-40 using XLR, Canon 5DIII (with the battery in mic), and with a Sony PXW-X70 (XLR, phantom power). It works great in every case. One of the best value mics on the market

How is this Mic for Shooting Stage Production ...

How is this Mic for Shooting Stage Production from a Mid Distance getting mix from Shotgun/ audio feed?
Asked by: MIKE
It's a great shotgun microphone but like any shotgun mic it will sound its best between 3-5 feet away, the further the mic is from the subject you recording the less presence their voice will have and more room noise will be introduced. At the end of the day the closer the mic is placed the better it will sound.

question

mke 600 work with pc if we use xlr to 3.5 without use any audio interface thanks
Asked by: Anonymous
The MKE-600 can be used without an interface when using the mic with battery power and the proper cable adapter. Sennheiser offers properly wired adapter cables. These are recommended for connection to 3.5mm TRS or TRRS inputs.
