BosStrap BOSG315 overview

  • 1Description

The black Generation 3 Sliding Sling Strap from BosStrap is designed to carry a heavier DSLR camera. This two part system consists of the BosStrap plus a Generation 3 BosTail (G3 Tail). The 12" G3 Tail attaches to the left strap lug of your camera. The Double Safety Lock G3 Tail allows separating your camera from the 1.5" sling strap only when you want. Note that the BosStrap G3 is 1.5" wide whereas the BosStrap G3 LT is only 1" wide (G3 version).

Since the tail attaches to your camera, your tripod socket is never used allowing you to both use a tripod when you want or place the camera on a flat surface. When in use, this strap allows you to easily slide your camera up to shooting position and, when done, slide it down where it gently rests against your hip. The strap is 64" long, allowing plenty of room for your camera to hang over your shoulder. Another benefit of the tail is the lack of metal parts that would scratch either the body or the LCD of your camera. Also, it doesn't matter if you're left or right handed since the strap works for either orientation. And, it works in either horizontal or vertical format.

This system leaves you hands free to pursue other endeavors such as using a computer, making a phone call or eating. There are no buckles, screws or fittings to deal with. Neither is there a shoulder pad that generally needs to be adjusted from time to time. Just attach the tail to the left lug of your camera and the tail to your BosStrap and you're ready to go. The Generation 3 Sliding Sling Strap comes with a one-year replacement warranty and with the exception of one part of the G3 Tail made in Sweden, the rest is made in the USA, including the thread.

The G3 System is designed specifically for heavier cameras
The G3 System Tail is 1.5" wide
Patent Pending Double Safety Lock G3 Tail allow separating camera from the 1.5" sling strap only when you want
Tripod socket is always available; camera can sit on a flat surface
BosStraps are 64" long not including the G3 Tail
Long G3 Tail - allows more angular adjustment of the 1.5" sling strap to fine tune comfort
No metal parts in the G3 Tail; no scratching the LCD or the camera body
Attaches to the left camera strap lug; easily switch from handheld to tripod without removing anything
No straps in the way when shooting horizontal or vertical; strap does not interfere with controls
No shoulder pad is required; nothing to constantly adjust
Comfortable, smooth, strong 1.5" nylon seat belt webbing distributes the camera weight
Frees both hands; camera safely remains at your side when not in use
Because camera rests at hip (pivot point on leg), there is minimal movement of camera when walking
The BosStrap G3 can support over 60 pounds
Easy to stow; simply wrap the BosStrap G3 around your lens or camera-nothing needs to be removed
Works with left or right handed shooters
No fittings, buckles or screws to disconnect
Except for one European part, BosStrap G3 is made with USA parts and labor-right down to the thread
Extra G3 Tails are available for your other camera bodies; only one Sling Strap is required

    BosStrap BOSG315 reviews

Generation 3 Sliding Sling Strap (Black) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 65.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from More secure than I expected I had hoped that I could carry my D7000 with this for fast shooting of events and sports, where the action is everywhere and I'm in the same environment I'm shooting. What I did not expect was that the strap is so snug and secure that I can even hold my heaviest lens and the battery pack on the camera body and still feel like my gear isn't going anywhere unless i want it to. The strap is simply webbing, which I happen to like, but if you like fully padded straps, look elsewhere. I feel that the webbing strap does a good job of spreading the weight well over the entire shoulder, better than a traditional neck strap, so it isn't an issue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good camera strap I first started using the BosStrap Sling Strap a couple of years ago. I love the system, it doesn't use the tripod socket for like the other sling straps.I had to replace my old strap because it got caught up in a massive house cleaning (don't ask)The original used a system that allowed you to easily remove and reconnect the camera to the strap while on the move . So far I haven't been able to figure out how to do that with the Gen 3 system. That being said, this is still a better system than the others that are out there because you are not using the tripod socket to carry the camera.Still a great system, just bummed that I lost the original

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Should have had this years ago! This is an amazing strap. It does not attach to the tripod socket, the most important factor for someone who uses a monopod to shoot every photo. Having luged around a heavy SLR for the past ten years, even heavier now with a full-frame, this is a miracle. The weight of the camera is off my neck and onto my shoulder, making the camera feel as if it weighs 3 ounces. I can carry the camera most of the day without problem. It cannot cause any harm to my tripod screw socket, I can use my monopod (that has a quick-release plate) at will. Cannot praise this strap enough. Yes, it is overpriced, but no other company makes a similar item. Once used, it becomes indispensable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Sling Strap Got this sling in early December. Looked at Black Rapids and read about Canon and Nikon's comments about straps thatg use the tripod socket. I ordered the Generation 3 sliding sling strap and really like it. Just got back from vacation shooting over 1100 images. Much nicer strap than the wife's OptiTech sling strap. Beware, over a heavy coat it's not easy to put on, had to have help from the wife. Everything about the strap says quality. I was concerned when it did not have a pad for over the shoulder but so far no issues. Will see what happens this summer when it's resting on a Tee-Shirt. Recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I was looking for. I just got this strap about 10 days ago and I haven't used it yet on any hikes or all day outings, but so far it seems to be exactly what I was looking for. It's well made and comfortable to wear. The camera slides easily from its resting position on my hip to the shooting position. And while I generally don't use a tripod, I really like the fact that the tripod attachment plate is available even with the strap attached. I keep the strap on the camera all the time. When I put the camera away, the strap simply wraps around the lens. From my perspective, you can't go wrong with this strap.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great alternative sling strap This strap is perfectly utilitarian. Not fancy, but does the job. I was looking at another, more popular and more expensive strap, but it uses the tripod socket on the bottom of the camera. That was a deal killer at any price, as I need to be able to pop it on a tripod at a moment's notice. This one is secured to the strap lug on the side of the camera. I would give it 5 stars if there was some way to detach the strap easily, but it is probably more secure this way and I could always add a carabiner, I suppose. Another slightly annoying feature is the bright BOSSTRAP logo across my chest. Perhaps I can flip the strap so that is inside. Also, despite the fact that there is no shoulder pad, it is quite comfortable with my large DSLR and a large zoom lens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Improved Design! I was initally drawn to the BosStrap because it freed up my tripod socket while the other sling straps utilize a tripod lug as an attachment point. I purchased the original BosStrap when it was first released and was very happy with it though I did notice the metal clasp was (in time) going to damage my expensive DSLR. With the release of the Generation 3 model, the metal clasp has been eliminated. The BossTail now fits tighter and there is no worry of it inadvertently coming undone. The single metal fitting loops through the tail eliminating the large metal clasp from Generation 1. With the elimination of the clasp, the strap is not easily trasnferred to another body but it can be done. Generation 3 is in improvement of an already fantastic product. With the BosStrap you have a sling and the ability to use a tripod whenever necessary without having to remove the sling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good Option When I first saw this strap, I skipped over it because of the single connection point. Needless to say, I ended up getting one after further reading, and was very happy and comfortable using it. One thought on that, if a standard strap has two connections and one fails, the camera will still fall. So the two point were not more secure, and actually gave two points for failure as opposed to one. I spent several days going around faires, and I found the strap to be comfortable The camera moved easily up and down as needed. I also used a plate on the bottom so I could pop it on a monopod from time to time. That worked well also. I did not have to remove the strap from my shoulder to use on the monopod. Overall a very functional and secure strap.
