For.A LTS-50 Overview

The For.A LTS-50 LTO Server is an LTO-5/LTFS-based media archiving server. It enables you to read and write files onto an LTO tape via FTP from Windows or OS X computers. It is a small-scale archiving and backup solution suitable for use in various applications.

Comprehensive File Backup/Archiving
It functions as an FTP server on the network, enabling Windows or OS X users to read or write any files on the unit's LTO cartridge directly via FTP. Back up project files, archive video files, or perform other tasks without file type or format restrictions.
Convenient MXF File Archiving
It excels in video archiving applications. Video files in standard MXF formats (such as MPEG-2, DVCPRO, or AVC-Intra) can be tagged before archiving, enabling LTR-100HS/120HS compatibility when stored on LTO tape. Thumbnails and proxy videos can be generated automatically from the MXF files being archived, using optional software (sold separately). Additionally, with the partial retrieve feature, individual MXF files on the LTO cartridge can be retrieved for use as separate MXF files.
Complete Data Archiving to LTO
Archiving equipment that relies on databases or other internal file information tends to lock users into particular systems and limit LTO cartridge portability, making the system less versatile. In contrast, this unit maintains flexibility by recording all data, including metadata, to the LTO cartridge. This avoids system lock-in and simplifies data transfer in asset management and other applications.
Note:
Requires activation of the metadata function before backup/archiving of generic files.
LTO Duplication
LTO cartridges in LTFS format can be duplicated. Optional software and an additional external LTO drive enable high-speed copying between LTO cartridges. Complete or partial copying of the data on cartridges is supported.
LTR Browser
This browser software enables you to browse a list of MXF files on an LTO cartridge, with thumbnails and metadata. It is available in the Windows and OS X versions. Additionally, it also features metadata searching, adding/removing MXF files, viewing/editing metadata, proxy playback, and partial retrieval.
MPEG-2 Option
An option for expanded functionality with MPEG-2 based MXF files. It supports MXF (OP-1a) MPEG-2 I-GOP/Long GOP (SMPTE ST 386, RDD 9) file formats and come with some extra features like thumbnail and proxy file generation (H.264 or WMV), and partial retrieval.
AVC-Intra/DVCPRO Option
An option for expanded functionality with AVC-Intra/DVCPRO based MXF files. It supports MXF (OP-Atom, OP-1a) DVCPRO 25/50/HD, AVC-Intra 50/100 file formats and features thumbnail and proxy file generation (H.264 or WMV), Partial retrieval (OP-1a/OP-Atom output), and OP-Atom to OP-1a conversion.
Dual-Drive Copying Option
Duplication of LTO tapes in LTFS format, using the built-in drive and an external drive.
Note:
Requires an external drive (sold separately).
