    Olympus LH-71F reviews

Lens Hood for M.ZUIKO Digital ED 75mm f/1.8 Lens is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality camera accessories from B & H The Olympus lens hood I purchased from B & H for my digital ED 75mm f/1.8 lens is the real thing made by Olympus for my lens, not a 3rd rate substitute. A lens is too important a tool for the photographer to take a chance on using an accessory that might detract from the function of the lens. I always get the best advice from B & H for the products I purchase along with maximum satisfaction. The hood does more than shade the front elements from unwanted light sources. It protects the lens from accidental bumps and damage. I know. I've suffered the bumps from people in crowds and when passing through doors. The hood increases the value, over time, of the lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than I expected! Before purchasing this hood, I did some research on it and some of the less expensive knock-offs (forums, reviews, spoke with Olympus rep.) finding conflicting info. Frustrated, I decided to purchase this one. I surmised that Olympus would only make a hood for the 75mm that was as perfect as this amazing lens and that it might be worth the $$ to simply get the hood and be done with the research all together! Here are the facts about this hood:1. Center-pinch lens cap IS included. (Olympus rep was wrong!)2. Thumb-screw does NOT scratch the lens.3. Thumb-screw does NOT touch the lens, but is covered by any internal compression ring encompassing half of the inside perimeter of the hood.4. When thumb-screw is tightened, it interacts with the internal compression ring which tightens the hood onto the lens. The ring is silver and could be made of the same metal as the hood, but I'm not sure. I don't know if the ring will eventually scratch the lens, but it hasn't yet. Creates a tight & secure hold.5. Hood does NOT screw into the filter threads of the lens. (Olympus rep was wrong, again!)6. The 2 tiny screws on the outside of the hood secure the compression ring to the inside of the hood. They are NOT screws that attach the hood to the lens using a phillips-head screwdriver. (3rd thing the Olympus rep was wrong!)7. Hood DOES fit over the outside of the lens body. No part of the hood fits inside the lens casing nor does it block access to the filter threads.8. The lens hood IS reversible on the lens. I've done it and it fits perfectly, covering most of the focus ring, while leaving enough exposed to rotate it. Hood does NOT rub on the focus ring. 9. Hood is metal and same color as lens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Review of a Lens Hood? What's to say about a lens hood? 1) it's an odd shape - round. Most are rectangular favoring the aspect ratio being show - of which all are rectangular (except 1:1 which doesn't count) 2) it doesn't twist onto the lens - but slides on with a twist knob to tighten/loosen. Odd, but whatever 3) does it work? Who knows. Unless one is willing to shoot before / after shots with / without, one may never know! 4) it does fit on the lens reversed and yes, you can put the lens cap back on with the hood on (reversed of course)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great protection super with the 75mm lens, a little expensive but i like the screw attachment - easy to remove and the lens cap that comes with it makes it easy to access

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it should This product is fine. I just resent having to purchase it separately from the lens. Having said that, if you buy the lens you should get the lens hood.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Expensive for what it is... Why Olympus doesn't just include the lens hood like most manufacturers is beyond me. Beyond that, it does what it's supposed to do.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too expensive. This hood works fine but is way to expensive for a metal tube. There are other manufacturers products that are half the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice hood This is a very nice metal hood that matches the silver finish of the lens. Has matte black felt inside to reduce reflections.
