Powerex MH-C800S Overview

The Powerex MH-C800S 8-Cell Smart Charger for AA / AAA NiMH / NiCD Batteries charges up to eight AA or AAA nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) or nickel-cadmium (NiCD) batteries in approximately 1-2 hr. Charge your batteries anywhere around the world via the included 100-240V, 50/60Hz universal AC adapter. Optional converter plugs are available for countries outside the US. The charger has eight independent charging circuits capable of charging 1-8 batteries in any combination. A large LCD screen shows the charging status of each battery. You have a choice of rapid and soft charge modes. Rapid charge enables eight batteries to be fully charged to their maximum capacities in 1-2 hr. Soft charge takes about 3-4 hr but provides greater battery life, as well as compatibility with older, lower-capacity batteries.

An integrated deep conditioning system charges, deep-discharges and then recharges batteries automatically, in order to offer maximum rejuvenation. The charger's eighth generation MH-NM7008 Powerex Precision Microprocessor ensures batteries are charged to their maximum capacities without being over- or undercharged. It affords maximum battery longevity, delivering just the right amount of charge every time.

question

Do you have to charge all eight batteries at the same time? That's a pain!ThanksAndy

You don't need to charge all eight batteries at once, but you do have the option to. You can choose to charge as many or as few batteries as you'd like with the Powerex MH-C800S 8 Cell Smart Charger.

question

What is the amp hour draw for the charger?
Asked by: Rob H.
I'm unable to tell. The unit itself draws 18V, 1000mA of Direct Current, and is powered by an AC Adapter. The AC Adapter indicates that it draws 100 to 240 Volts at 50 to 60 Hz, but does not provide an amp hour specification.

question

I am on my third unit and it seems about a year is all you get. The base works fine but the power adapters don't last. Where can I purchase just the power adapter by itself?
Asked by: Lee
You can order a replacement power adapter directly from the manufacturer's website in the accessories section. They carry the replacement adapter for the MH-C800S. However I would recommend the adapter for the MH-C801D / MH-C808M which costs 50% more. The bigger, more expensive, adapter is designed for higher current and should provide greater service life than the lighter duty stock adapter. If you are only getting a year out of the stock adapter - then the heavy duty adapter would only need to last 18 months for you to be ahead (compared to buying another lighter duty stock adapter) Altenatively you could move up to the MH-C801D or MH-C808M charger entirely - but, of course, just buying the replacement adapter wil be the cheapest option.
