The MH-C9000 WizardOne Charger-Analyzer for 4 AA / AAA NiMH / NiCD Batteries from Powerex charges 1-4 AA or AAA NiMH or NiCD batteries via 4 independent slots. It supports batteries with capacities of 100-20,000mAh. The large, backlit LCD screen displays capacity, voltage, elapsed time and current. The charger provides 29 selectable charge and discharge rates, including 19 charging currents from 0.2-2.0A (200-2000mA) and 10 discharging currents from 0.1-1.0A (100-1000mA) in increments of 0.1A.

The MH-C9000 has 5 operational modes: Charge, Refresh & Analyze, Break-In, Discharge and Cycle. Charge mode recharges your batteries at the selected rate, and is suitable for frequently-used batteries. Refresh & Analyze charges batteries, rests for an hour, discharges, rests again, and then recharges the batteries at selectable charge and discharge rates. This mode is well suited to batteries stored for more than 2 weeks but less than 3 months, or for those demonstrating poor performance.

Break-In mode, otherwise known as IEC capacity measurement and "Battery Forming," charges and discharges the batteries at a fraction of their full capacities. It charges them at 0.1C for 16 hr, rests for an hour, discharges them at 0.2C, and then recharges them once more at 0.1C for 16 hr, where C is the battery capacity. It is best used for new batteries or those stored for longer than 3 months, and chemically reactivates the battery after the deactivation that occurs with long-term storage. Discharge mode simply discharges your batteries at the chosen rate, and is useful for analyzing the amount of charge stored in the battery. Cycle performs a charge-discharge cycle for up to 12 times, with discharge capacity stored in memory for display on command, and then recharges the batteries following the final cycle.

The charger also performs Battery Matching, which enables you to group batteries with similar actual capacity--within approximately +/-5% of the rated capacity--in the device you want to power. When batteries are used together in a device, performance is limited to the worst one. But by using the Refresh & Analyze mode on this charger, you can match batteries with the same performance and then group them together, knowing that the full performance potential should be realized in the device you use.

The MH-C9000 charger utilizes independent negative delta V charge control and has temperature and timer protection to eliminate over- and under-charging. It comes with a 100-240V power adapter, and is also compatible with a 12V input. When used with the optional cigarette lighter adapter (not included), the charger will work in your car.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best you can get under $. This is an easy to use smart charger. I have recomended this to all my friends and family. I use two of these to charge, maintain and balance my supply of Enloop batteries mostly for camera/flash use . PRO's *Each bay charges/discharges one battery independantly. *Easy to read display (double as a night light) *More advanced features avail. to make batteries function at peak performance. *Huge amount of information about this charger online ie.CPF, strobist, ect. *Multiple safety cut offs. *1st voltage check shows batt. internal resistance ( FYI ) CONS *Price point is higher (most quality things are). *Default charge rate is too high for most AAA I use 400mah for my 800mah batt. *very poor manual translation. * More Americans don't use Rechargable Batteries and throw away TONS of alkalines into landfills -ok rant over ;)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Charger I agree with everybody else this is the best charger out there. You have to have this to maintain your rechargeable batteries. I have batteries 8-9 years old that are rated 2700mAh but were at 800 to 900 mAh. After reconditioning them in this charger there at 1500+mAh (I don't use these in my speedlights but for Pocketwizard's and such). Once I've reconditioned all my batteries I use this charger and the Powerex MH-C800S 8-cell charger for everyday charging. It took a while to figure out how to use it, there's a couple good YouTube videos that explains it well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Multi- talented charger I have been able to condition rechargable batteries and at the same time conduct discharge tests on AA/AAA alkaline batteries. Armed with is information I can choose the battery type for the application. As each battery is inserted the charger prompts for mode and then asks for the needed information for each mode. Although this sounds intensive, for 4 batteries, it flows easily and with a few key strokes the selections are made and the charger is off doing its task. If no action is taken in 10 seconds the charger will go into charge mode and is automatically configured for AA size batteries. I find this charger a great tool to keep up with the two types of batteries I am using at the same time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I purchased this product to charge and refurbish my new AA nimh batteries for my camera. I have several cheap chargers but after reviewing other users reviews and getting educated in the basics of this type of battery decided to purchase this unit. I can't say enough about this unit. It is worth every dollar spent. It even charged several old nimh batteries that I though were junk and ready to discard. Spend the extra money and you will not regret it. I feel this unit will get me the max life out of my new batteries.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a very smart battery charger My electrical engineer brother talked me into getting rechargeable AA batteries for my flashes. I got 48 of them and this charger. The charger tells you everything about whats happening with each battery as it charges. The only down side is it charges only 4 batteries at a time. But plan ahead and it gets them done quickly and you'll have plenty of power.I had been using Quantum external batteries. The only advantage with it is it keeps up with the power demands of speed lights better than AAs, but it is heavy and bulky. Instructions are complex, but really all you have to do is drop the battery in the slot and off it goes on its own. Super easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Notch Charger I bought this charger to replace a late 90's model charger from Radio Shack that had a tendency to overheat and overcharge my batteries. With this charger, I can charge my Panasonic Eneloop batteries at default settings and they barely get warm to the touch. The menu system on this charger is really easy to use, and all the complaints about excessive button presses are nonsense. It takes just a moment to set each slot up individually. The display is bright and easy to read, though comments about it being so bright it can used as a nightlight are pretty accurate. After charging the batteries, it will display done, but I recommend leaving the batteries in the charger for a couple hours afterwards so that they get fully topped off with the trickle maintenance charge, as this charger will stop the main charging a little earlier than most other brand chargers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Battery Conditioner on the Market I use this to try and revitalize my older batteries. Those batteries that could be saved were saved. Those that could not be saved were not. However, it lets you know the problem very clearly. Some reviewers mention the large number of button presses required to operate. Do not let this hinder your purchase. Once you understand the charger and what each mode does, you can set it up quickly. My AA Sanyo Eneloops just drop in and charge at the recommended rate of 1000mah. Works great. I have noticed my Eneloops last longer now. Best, most complete charger/analyzer I have ever used. I wish Powerex would come out with an 8-slot version!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from learning curve so this thing is excellent going to save me a ton of money already saved a bunch of frustration and wasted time by sorting out toasted nihms, saved some, I'm very happy with it but it won't do everything for you if you just want a charger they make others that are probably just as good the advanced features are worth it but you have to learn how to use them when and why not a big deal, and worth you're while. I would buy another that was simpler with the same functions in a heart beat so others in the Family could use it as it is I'm the only one interested enough to have learned...
