Impact Extra Large Rectangular Overview

The Luxbanx Extra Large Rectangular Softbox from Impact is an economical 54 x 72" light shaping tool for strobes that's ideal for fashion or full body portraiture, illustrating larger products or even hanging from the ceiling for car or motorcycle photography. When you need a soft quality of light combined with wide coverage, this is the softbox for you. The softbox features a soft white interior, removable front diffuser and removable inner baffle. The diffuser and baffle can be used together for maximum softening of the output. Removing the inner baffle will give you a more crisp light quality with higher contrast, while shedding the front and inner diffusers turns the Luxbanx into a large reflector with maximum brightness and contrast.

The versatile Luxbanx has an additional control via an optional fabric grid which mounts to the recessed lip of the softbox with touch-fasteners. The grid narrows and concentrates the light's beam forward, controlling spill and adding directional control to the Luxbanx's attributes. Every Luxbanx comes with a carrying case and a spare Flex Rod. Separate purchase of a speed ring that matches your strobe's mount is required for use. Impact makes models to fit most popular brands.

Good quality. Recommended softbox for studio work. I don't think it would be durable for everyday field work.

Good value for the money

This softbox looked well made and seemed to be a good value for the money. It even came with an extra rod. This softbox is BIG. Unfortunately it would not stay securely fastened to any of my Paul C Buff Alien Bee lights. This is not a fault of the the softbox. I am just posting this so that users of Alien Bees will know that this probably is not a good choice for those lights

I should have bought this light box a long long time ago

About five years ago, I attended a seminar from a well-known expert photographer who used such a large softbox in the course of his demos. He related comments from other photographers, comments I had heard from acquaintances as well, that using such a softbox was cheating because it insured good light on your subject. The expert's reaction: If it works that well, why should you care about someone calling it cheating. It took me a while, but I finally concurred, bought it and could not be happier. Great for full body length portraits or for flooding a relatively large area with even light.

6' Soft box

The fabric and construction are as good as Chimera or any other brand. The bows are made of steel and are strong and fit very well with all my light box mounting rings. The only draw back is the more expensive bows are made of carbon fiber and are able to fold in half to pack up in a much smaller case, also the steel bows are noticeably heavier. All in all, I'd buy it again!

WHAT A BEAST.

Softest light I own, barely fits in my house. Amazing.

Well designed and reasonably priced

It does it job, great price. Has a few drawbacks: 1. the four corners which metal rods insert could be using a one end sealed plastic tubing to make it more secure. 2. due to is weight, you will need uplifting support of some kind to keep it secured in shooting position on a even heavy duty light stand. 3. Accessory such as bottom supporting brackets which is attached to light stand will really help to wheel this giant around my studio. 4. metal snaps on the inside near rods are really really small and easily breaking off, try not to use it, as it will break off after less than 10 setups. Of course it is not a deal killers, however it annoys me to see a cheap part. 5. Go to home depot and replace the metal rods with fiberglass driveway markers to reduce some of its unnecessary weight. Be sure to melt down and polish the corners to reduce wear and tear on the fabric.

Good price, good light.

I love the quality of light that it produces. The build and material seem a little weak but for the price I don't think you can complain.

Is there a quick release bowens speedring for these soft boxes to make them easier to put together and take apart in mobile studio?

Chimera makes quick release speedrings that can be used with this softbox. The exact type would vary depending on the light your using.

Is this just as hard to set up as the 24x78 strip box? Any recommendations on large or extra large soft boxes that are easy to set up?
Asked by: Susan
I have two of these and they are very difficult and awkward to set up. It's so big that the 4 rods can't hold the surface entirely flat. Also, the interior material is not as reflective as some other boxes. I prefer using a set of 60" folding softboxes that have an umbrella style mechanism and silver interiors.

It states maximum wattage is 250.....does that mean I can't use my 500W moonlight?
Asked by: Michael
Yes, you can use a 500-watt Monolight strobe with the Impact Luxbanx Extra Large Rectangular Softbox (54 x 72"). The 250 watt is referring to a quartz light that gets hot. If you use a quartz light it cannot be any more than 250 watts. Note this does not come with a speedring. You will need to purchase one that works with your flash. This is a link for ones that will work with that softbox, https://bhpho.to/36GsXKk

question

Is there a way to use this with a Dracast 1 x 1 LED fixture?
Asked by: James J.
Unfortunately, no, the Impact Luxbanx Extra Large Rectangular Softbox (54 x 72 ) is not compatible with the Dracast 1x1' LED Fixture. The Impact Luxbanx Extra Large Rectangular Softbox (54 x 72 ) requires the use of speedrings, and there are no speedrings designed for use with the Dracast 1x1 LED Fixture. You would have to purchase a softbox that is specially designed to attach to 1x1' LED lights. There are a few options listed under the Accessories tab under the Dracast 1X1 LED Fixture on our website.
