The Only Boom Pole Holder I use!

I have been fortunate in that just about everything I have ordered in the past 6 months has exceeded my expectations. This is no exception. Truthfully, I have had quite a few of these, since I have multiple kits, and absolutely love this holder. It is quite sturdy, sits well in a C Stand, and stands up to heavy use. Auray is the only one I like, and is the one I will continue to use. If you are in the market for a boom pole holder, then you can't go wrong with this one!

It serves a fairly simple purpose, but does it well and has given me no issues so far. This grip head mounts easily and solidly to the top of a standard light stand or C-stand, and holds the boompole holder solidly in place. Perfect for interview situations when I'm flying solo and don't have someone to operate the boom pole for me. I would recommend using a sand bag on your light stand or C-stand as the weight of the mic and boom pole becomes more and more lopsided the further the boom pole is extended.

Solid build quality.

Reviewing things like this is always a little weird, because the biggest compliment one can pay to these sorts of utility accessories is that you don't have to think about them. And that's exactly the case with this combo pack from Auray. The construction is solid. The grip head clamps down nice and strong, the boom pole holder fits my boom pole perfectly. They're both easy to use and the best part is they work so well I don't have to think about them.

This is the best boom pole holder I've ever worked with. Solid, great non-slip coating, works as advertised.

How does the Auray compare to the Neewer boompole holder?
Asked by: Alexander
The Auray seems to be more durable than the Neewer one. When I was adjusting the grip head for the boom pole that we were using the Neewer base (of the pole holder) sheared off. Neewer did send us a replacement though.

What is the maximum diameter pole that this will hold?
Asked by: Todd
I don't have it in front of me to measure, unfortunately, but it must be able to accomodate a fairly significantly wide pole because the one we have is easily 2" across and has plenty of wiggle room in both areas that make contact with the holder.

This would require a knuckle to attach it to a c stand. Here's an option B&H # IMKCP200B.

Whats the maximum weight this can handle? Was hoping to use with a monopod and FS5.
Asked by: tyler
I wouldn't trust this thing with a camera. Get a Cardellini clamp or something instead.

Is there any way I could mount this onto a boom stand with a 5/8 male thread? Maybe an adapter? If anybody knows please let me know.
Asked by: ethan
Yes with a C stand Knuckle, something every cinematographer should have in the kit. Just make sure the boom pole and Mic don't get too front heavy, if so sandbag the stand to stabilize it. Better yet use a century stand rather than a lightweight light stand.

Is the grip head in this kit smaller than a standard grip head that comes with a typical C Stand? I already have a C-Stand with grip head but am hoping this is smaller, so I can use it for travel with a travel light stand and sand bag counterweight.
Asked by: Sheldon
It's a standard grip head.
