Does this cradle fit securely & tightly in a grip head? Or is it a hair smaller than the grip head hole? I'm asking because I currently own one that spins in the grip head hole.

How does the Auray compare to the Neewer boompole holder?
Asked by: Alexander
The Auray seems to be more durable than the Neewer one. When I was adjusting the grip head for the boom pole that we were using the Neewer base (of the pole holder) sheared off. Neewer did send us a replacement though.

This would require a knuckle to attach it to a c stand. Here's an option B&H # IMKCP200B.

What is the maximum diameter pole that this will hold?
Asked by: Todd
I don't have it in front of me to measure, unfortunately, but it must be able to accomodate a fairly significantly wide pole because the one we have is easily 2" across and has plenty of wiggle room in both areas that make contact with the holder.

Is there any way I could mount this onto a boom stand with a 5/8 male thread? Maybe an adapter? If anybody knows please let me know.
Asked by: ethan
Yes with a C stand Knuckle, something every cinematographer should have in the kit. Just make sure the boom pole and Mic don't get too front heavy, if so sandbag the stand to stabilize it. Better yet use a century stand rather than a lightweight light stand.

Whats the maximum weight this can handle? Was hoping to use with a monopod and FS5.

I have found that my boom pole will sometimes swing around in the socket from the weight of the boom mic. I certainly would not trust this setup to an expensive camera. you might want to try something with mafer clamps for more security. don't forget sandbags!

Can this mount to a light stand?
Asked by: Kyle K.
Yes. You will need the C-stand knuckle. When it's set up remember to either sandbag your C-stand securely or make sure that the cantilevered mic/boom pole don't tip the C-stand over.

Is the grip head in this kit smaller than a standard grip head that comes with a typical C Stand? I already have a C-Stand with grip head but am hoping this is smaller, so I can use it for travel with a travel light stand and sand bag counterweight.
Asked by: Sheldon
Hi Sheldon, I believe they are a standard size. Hope this helps :)
