The F8 LED Fresnel (Daylight) from Zylight is the next generation of Fresnel lights. All of the hallmarks of a traditional Fresnel light are present; single shadow beam shaping through barn doors, continuous focusing and a smooth light field. The Zylight F8 adds wireless and DMX control, water-resistant IP54 rating, and very rugged construction for field reliability. Available in both Tungsten and Daylight color temperature versions, the Zylight F8 is extremely compact, durable and one of the most versatile Fresnel lights on the market.

Field Friendly

The Zylight F8 can be powered by either a worldwide AC power adapter or a standard 14.4V camera battery for complete portability. Its thin design and shape allow it to pack into small cases and be taken anywhere. The water-resistant IP54 rating ensures the F8 will be comfortable in falling rain or snow, and blowing dirt and dust. Whether you're shooting a stand-up in a hurricane or snow storm, the F8 will deliver bright light with ease.

Studio Friendly

In the studio, all functionality of the Zylight F8 can be controlled via DMX or remotely via the built-in ZyLink wireless link. Local control such as dimming, focus and wireless operation are provided on the rear of the F8. At 15 x 12 x 4" it will take up considerably less space in your lighting grid than its traditional counterpart. The yoke mount allows for easy panning and tilting for quick focusing. The F8's silent operation means it can run in a studio setting without disruption of audio recording or talent distraction.

Ultra Bright Output

The F8's advanced ultra bright LED module ensures excellent skin tones and rich, accurate color rendition. Continual focusing and an adjustable beam spread between 16-70 degrees allows for even coverage when shooting with wide-angle lenses or HD 16x9 format. The F8 uses a high quality glass 8.0" Fresnel lens and has an equivalent output of a traditional 1,000W instrument. Barn doors, soft box and other accessories are available as options.

    Zylight F8-D Reviews

    Great buy!

I mulled over a lot of led choices before buying this. Really impressed. Just shot an outdoor interview. 4x silk overhead and this light filled it in nicely. About 45 minutes at 100% on a IDX Endura 10 battery. Very happy!

The most powerful compact fresnel out there! Tired of hot lights on location? This is brighter than a 650w and can run off of a camera battery. Perfect for field portraits, documentary, or any other location shooting.

    Amazing Build

This is an amazing instrument. From the way it's constructed, ease of use and of course the quality of light. The barn doors are extremely well thought out - it can make a very small circle light at full spot! Great to have instead of schlepping a snoot around. It's expensive, but it's a great light - and very easy to travel with. I also purchased the Chimera that makes it a perfect documentary light. Fits in a Pelican 1560. (they say it's light rain proof for exteriors, but I haven't tried that yet)

    GREAT LIGHT!

This is great light for Run and Gun outdoor setups. Wish it was Bicolor, but with a set a filters is does just fine in just about every outdoor setup I need a nice pop! 4 times the power of a light panel, single source, and focusable. Also weather resistant which is nice in outdoor setups. Best light I own.

A bright daylight source that's easy to power...

Bright and rugged - a nice quality of light. To my eye, it doesn't feel quite as directional as a traditional tungsten fresnel, but it's a great light to balance against daylight in an interview setup and it looks beautiful through a chimera.

Very happy with the punch and size of the light. Battery capability sold me because I need to shoot outdoors a lot.

Unfortunately, we only carry the daylight version in kit form. However, we do have the F8-T Fresnel, ZYF8T sold individually. Please see the image below for reference.

    question

What is the ouput comparison to hmi or tungsten? I dont see a foot candle chart. Also how long will a 150wh battery last at full power on this fixture?
    Asked by: Anonymous
According to Zylight, the F8-D has the light output just below a 1000 watt tungsten fresnel and the light output equivalent to 200 watts of HMI. For the complete photometrics on this fresnel, please see the following link: http://bit.ly/1Thzcq3. As for how long a 150Wh battery would last on this light, you would get about 1.5 hours of life at full power.

    question

Does the F8 have a bowens mount option for softboxes etc?
    Asked by: Patrick F.
I'm not sure about the option you mention. I bought the speed ring and the softbox specifically made for the light by Chimera. It's lovely. (expensive, but worth it)
