The Flyweight Camcorder Shoulder Rig from ikan is a lightweight shoulder pad system for midsize camcorders that has an interchangeable pad that allows you to rest the rig comfortably on your chest for stability. It includes an empty soft weight bag so you can use the weighted material of your choice and ship the bag empty for convenience.

The large adjustable EV2 baseplate can be adjusted laterally and vertically (great for offset shots) and the integrated tripod mounting plate will accept typical industry-standard quick-release plates or larger wedge-style plates. It's equipped with enhanced adjustable tension knobs that safely secure your camcorder.

Stacking components with the Flyweight Camcorder is a simple matter with the included cheese plate and Cheese Stick JR universal mounting accessories. Heavy-duty non-slip rubberized grips in yellow and black each have a 1/4"-20 mounting hole for your convenience and the rubberized texture absorbs moisture so that you always have a good grip on your equipment. Key components of this user-friendly rig are preassembled for your convenience.

Flyweight Camcorder Shoulder Rig is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value High Quality Reasonable Cost I use this shoulder rig to carry my Panasonic AG-HMC40 and accessories like a Swintronic light, Sure microphone, Ikan 7 field monitor and Manfrotto remote control. It looks like gear made in Germany or Switzerland or Italy -- beautiful design with 100% high quality aluminum machined construction with the satin finish of the finest cameras. No plastic! This rig will last me a very long time. Now that you know it looks great, it also works great for me. I use it to film documentaries, commercials and music videos. I really had a problem keeping my Pansonic steady while moving around outside. No kidding, this rig almost works as good as a steady cam. I can snap my Panasonic camera off the rig in a few seconds with the addition of a Manfrotto quick release which lets me mount it to my big, HD tripod and/or monopod quickly and safely (requires 2 Manfrottos -- one for the rig and the other for the tripod, but sharing the slide attached to my camera.) Very handy. I'll be adding a follow focus since the rig is ready for mounting and easy use. I do not have to worry about expanding the rig to suit my future needs. It's expandable for proper camera fit and a ton of gear. I got it to fit me very well and 70% of the weight is on my shoulders, leaaving my hands almost at rest on the front support handles. This rig is not 100% customizable, but I've centered my camera easily and properly with more leftward or right travel, if needed, and forward or rearward travel. This rig easily works for left or right handed use. My guess is this rig would support my Sony EX-2 easily. Any larger, I would look at larger Ikan rigs. If your camera is something like mine, and you're paying much more than this rig cost me, you're wasting money and effort. I looked for four months and can assure a Pro or Serious-ProSumer photographer, you can not do better. Now that I've told you how great this thing is, the only problem I have with it is, it's not adjustable up and down on the camera mounting riser easily. The limit of travel is not more than 1/4 up or down. I wish it could be more close to an inch. I'm working with Ikan right now to fix this issue for my needs. They say they have accessory plates that can fix my problem. They are extremely helpful and very quick to respond by e-mail or telephone. Yea, you can actually call these guys and speak with a product expert within a couple of minutes. And they also return your messages on the same day. This is top customer service for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My BFF for mobile camera work After looking at support options for mobile camera applications with somewhat heftier camcorders, I decided that a shoulder support would be more appropriate for my needs than a true stabilizer, and the Ikan Flyweight Camcorder Shoulder Support seemed to offer an extensive set of features at a reasonable price. So I took the plunge and so far I haven't been disappointed. The quality of materials and construction is excellent, resulting in a sturdy but surprisingly light solution. The large camera mount platform can accommodate sizable equipment and cam be adjusted both laterally and vertically; the extent of lateral movement can be greatly increased by repositioning the set screws, but the range of vertical movement is somewhat more limited. The lengths of the dual axial rods that support the camera plate and front cross-bar support are generous enough to accommodate off-camera accessories such as follow-focus and remote zoom controls if desired, and the front/back angle and lateral positioning of the dual rubberized hand-grips can be independently adjusted as needed for comfort and convenience ((with my equipment configurations I've found that using the grips at a slightly wept forward angle results in great balance and longer term comfort). A durable zippered pouch is provided to hold material that provides some weight at the rear to stabilize the way the rig sits on the shoulder; I use about two pounds worth of metal ball bearings sealed in a plastic bag. The length of the pouch's supporting strap is long enough to allow for a variety of mounting options if a battery pack or wireless transmitter is attached to the rear cheeseplate assembly. Additional nice little touches are the versatile range of attachment points provided on the rear cheeseplate, a seriously heavy-duty bottom plate with four 3/8 and five 1/4 threaded attachment points to allow the rig to be mounted on a tripod, and a threaded hole on the shoulder support brace just behind the rear rods attachment collar to store the D-ring bolt used to fix the camera to the upper platform. A note about the D-ring: rather than hassling with having to pull one of the rods out to get the D-ring bolt in position under the platform so as to mount the camera, I attached a heavy-duty quick-mount adapter to the top of the camera platform to make life easier. On my rig, the D-ring will thus get to spend the rest of its life relaxing in the threaded storage hole. I found that when suitably adjusted, the rig makes handling relatively heavier equipment very comfortable over longer periods of time; one thing I immediately noticed was how much easier it became to manage front-heavy camera rigs, especially with hand-held panning shots -- much smoother. Overall, I'm quite happy with the Ikan Flyweight unit, and would recommend it as a serious candidate for hand-held shooting applications when a more costly stabilization system isn't really necessary. Your arms and neck will be grateful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Nice, solid shoulder mount rig with great value for the price (significantly less expensive than competitors). It would be better if the weight bag 1) was farther back and 2) came with weights. Ikan doesn't even sell weights for it, but I found some 1lb fishing weights to do the trick. Also, it's difficult to mount the camera on quickly - definitely would get a quick release plate to go with this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good I just picked this up so I have not used it for any pro gigs yet, however it made a great first impression. It's sturdy and easy to assemble. The base plate has lots of mounting options. You can attach the entire rig to a tripod to move quickly from shoulder to a locked down shot. The included weight bag is a nice touch, however I personally am going to secure it with a zip tie (it looks like it could slide off...minor) One immediate issue I'm having is - my camera does not seem to be secure. I can't tell what the issue is, but the screw that secures the camera to the base plate does not seem to get tight enough. I don't know if I'm just dumb, or if it's an issue with my camera/the screw, however it is worth noting. I did email ikan with this and I'm waiting on a response

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A bit on the heavy side and... This shoulder rig would be great with a bit of improvement from the engineering side. Its not easy to mount the camcorder on it without disassembling a few parts of it, and its a bit on the heavy side. Construction is good, solid, and design would be great if it was a bit lighter and easier to mount and unmount the camera on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shoulder Rig This rig is a very effective stabilizer system for my camera (Canon XF300). It allows for smooth footage and gives a professional look to the film. It also has room for many accessories which is nice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty nice. I just used and love it. It's well balanced and easy to use. Only drawback is trying to screw in the camera to the base. Hard to get your fingers underneath. But I do love it.
