My primary purpose in getting this was to protect the flash shoe contacts from damage or dirt since some manufacturers don't provide a cover. Rather than a hard plastic they are soft and seem to grip a little bit better, but they can still catch on things like the camera strap and get pulled out of the shoe if you're not paying attention. As a bonus, the level really does work! I have several, one for every camera that was without one.
Good for flash heads on a camera to prevent any Damage.., need to order more.

Got it to use on a Canon 450D thay I conved to a pinhole camera. The aperture is so small nothing appears in Live View so I had no idea the camera orientation. Low profile so it should not sit there. But I found that I had to continually check it to be sure my clothing hadn't knocked it loose. I put a layer of Gaffer tape on the bottom but that wasn't enough to hold it still. Three layers finally did the trick.
Its ok if you have a hot shoe on your camera. Make sure you don't set it to high up on your tripod, or you'll need a chair or ladder to adjust the bubble.
Set this on a cold shoe and enjoy level shots! I appreciate how low-profile it is compared to alternatives.
Fits my D810 fine. Perhaps a different color liquid would help the tiny bubble show more easily.
These little Bubble level are good for whenever a flash is not need, especially to prevent a flash shoe from having dust or getting damaged may order more in the near future.
