    Ruggard PBB-215B reviews

Thunderhead 15 DSLR & Laptop Backpack (Black) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little bag I have been using a LowePro Versa 200 for some time but just never filled it and found its size something of a burden at my age. (the LP is a great bag so don't get that wrong. On the Ruggard, it is a better built than expected for the low price. It holds everything I need to carry. Comfortable to wear. I customized a bit by adding a couple of D-rings and a small side bag for the little odds that don't always have to be carried. I can get a Nikon flash, a 20mm, 24-80 and 24-120 lens, rt-angle viewer, and ball head in the main compartment with some room left over to trade out a lens with my 200mm macro if that needs to go in the bag. One thing I'd say is conspicuously missing it space specific to batteries. There are three CF size card compartments. It has straps and pocket for a small tripod but certainly will not handle a big Gitzo or Bogen/Monfrotto. I'll use that area for a golf umbrella.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good I bought this pack to use for traveling and day hikes for shootong landscapes. I have a Canon T3 with a Sigma 17 to 50 mm F/2.8 right now as well as a small Metz flash unit and some Cokin P series filters with holder. The pack accomodates these easily and I would say I should have room for a longer zoom lense and an ultra-wide as long as I don't get carried away with overly large lenses The additional pockets store my battery charger, camera battery and spare flash batteries, and other misc. bits. The tripod holder holds my tripod securely but given the packs relatively compact dimensions the tripod does stick up above the pack quite a bit. Everthing seems to be made quite well. The materials seem to be of a high quality and the stitching is neat and accurate. The pack is also well padded and holds it's shape. In summary if your looking for a smallish bag to grab on a moments notice or as a carry on for air travel I can recomend this back pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great Backpack My main use is for hiking with my entire package of camera equipment which is a Panasonic GH-4 and five lenses, one of which is a very thin fisheye. I also carry my iPad, strobe light, SD cards, two water bottles and miscellaneous accessories. After having nearly every different manufacturers backpacks that I know of I believe this is my absolute favorite. It is well made, well designed and most of all secures my equipment better than any other pack I have owned. I find it very comfortable to carry with a great deal of available adjustments on the harnesses. The zippers seem to be very well-made and work smoothly. As an added protection there is a strap on each side of the pack which takes the strain of the main compartments zipper. The fabric cover over the main zipper can be rolled back making for easier access if it is not dusty or raining. The internal padding is very robust and for the first time this pack came with more dividers than I used. The little whistle on the chest strap actually seems to be loud enough to be useful, my dog who was nearly 100 yards away responded to it instantly so it may be somewhat of a benefit. As far as the negatives there are for me a couple. One is that there is not enough dedicated storage for my SD cards. The other is that the pockets for the tripod and water bottle are tapered at the bottom and the first time I used them the bottles fell out. I solve this problem with bungee cords slipped under the pocket straps on the side of the pack. In the second large compartment were a iPad would be placed the yellow zipper tabs kept getting caught in the main zipper. That problem is solved by not closing the zippers all the way . In dim light I found that the main compartments black zippers were hard to see or find, I solved that by tying the elastic yellow cord into one of the zipper tabs which held the instruction sheet which came with the pack, now I'm looking for another bright string for the other tab. Again I have to say in closing that basically I'd love this pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Bag!! I bought this bag specifically for two reasons. 1. It met the requirements for carry on baggage and 2. It was specifically designed to also hold an ipad. I wanted something I was going to be able to carry on an airplane but that would also serve the purpose of carrying my ipad and my wallet, while also carrying all my photography equipment and this bag does just that. It is a tad bit bulky, but it definitely serves the purpose that I bought it for. It is also a little heavy empty, which makes it even moreso when it is full. It has tons of protection in it and the velco walls and pockets help to customize the interior to your needs. I haven't had it very long but it is definitely been a huge help so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like it. I bought this backpack because when I travel, my other backpack was too large to maneuver in airports and airplanes. I haven't taken it on any trips yet but it became my new camera case. I put two of my lenses in it along with my camera. I also put my I-Pad in the tablet compartment. Still moving things around but so far a winner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Airport friendly pack I was looking for a good small airport friendly pack and I think this will do, I do own about 15 different bags, mostly lowepro but this one will do great packing an IPad as well. Quality and price were both good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable, lightweight travel solution I purchased this bag just prior to a long outdoor adventure in South America and I'm happy to report that the bag survived and kept my camera gear intact. The bag expands very well as advertised. I was able to fit all my necessary camera gear plus had extra space for other travel accessories. The capacity is perfect for up to the larger crop factor DSLRs plus lenses, but I did manage to squeeze an ungripped Nikon D800E plus huge ultrawide zoom securely. Gripped or full pro cameras will struggle to fit comfortably, if at all. It is a small bag and will ride high for taller people (its waist belt is more of a belly belt), but I did not find that to be an issue. One thing I didn't like is that the memory card pockets are not divided, so they will toss around a bit. Still, the bag was the perfect form factor for my travel gear and was very easy to work around in the field.
