Rokinon 24mm T1.5 Cine Overview

The Canon EF mount Rokinon 24mm T1.5 Cine ED AS IF UMC Lens was developed primarily for film and video applications. The cine version of Rokinon's 24mm lens features industry-standard gearing for the focus and aperture ring, and the aperture ring has been de-clicked for smooth iris pulls. The aperture and focus scales have also been relocated to the side of the lens, where it is easier for focus pullers to read them.

This lens is compatible with full-frame sensors and can also be used on APS-C-sized sensors, where the 35mm-equivalent focal length will be 38.4mm. The optical construction incorporates four extra-low dispersion elements, as well as two aspherical elements, to reduce chromatic aberration and distortion to produce sharper imagery. Additionally, a UMC coating has been applied to lens elements to minimize lens flare and ghosting for more contrast-rich images.

Wide-angle prime lens is well-suited to use in a broad variety of shooting situations.
Fast T1.5 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions and provides greater control over focus placement for shallow depth of field applications.
Four extra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements reduce chromatic aberrations in order to produce greater sharpness and clarity.
UMC coating improves light transmission and suppresses lens flare and ghosting for more contrast-rich, color-neutral images.
Geared aperture and focus rings are compatible with standard follow focuses for greater control over adjustment.
De-clicked aperture ring facilitates smooth, quiet exposure adjustments during recording.

Please forgive my ignorance (newbie), but what ...

Please forgive my ignorance (newbie), but what will these cine lenses give me that the normal Sony lenses won't? I understand the manual and no stabilization bit, but will these actually give a more cinematic look right out of the box (before post production)?
Asked by: Al
Cine lenses are inherently designed for the more cinematic look, but the primary difference between these lenses and photo lenses pertains to their technical specs, which will allow you to set specific, hard T stops for precision focusing, which may be recreated again and again with accuracy, whereas the F stop positioning on photo lenses will never result in 100% accuracy. Also, when using a follow focus system, you may change lenses without having to reset the positioning of your follow focus system.

Hi, I have a black magic pocket 4K wich have MFT Mount, these lenses will work with that camera? I also would like to know if i will get crop factor, if so, how much it would be with those lenses? Thank you very much
Asked by: Diego
Yes, these are MFT mount lenses which will work with the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K. Any lens that you put on the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K is subject to the camera's crop factor, which is 1.9x. Lenses are always listed by their physical focal length, not what the lens will be after the crop factor.

Can you use this lens to take photos on a canon 6D?
Asked by: Michael
While this is a manual Cinema lens that you will have to control the Iris and Focus on the lens itself, there is nothing to keep you from taking photos with it. It will work with the 6D for photography.

Can you take photos with these lenses?
Asked by: Mark
While these lenses have features that lend themselves to Cinematic shooting, such as a click-less aperture and gears for follow focus systems, you will still be able to shoot photos with them. Keep in mind these are fully manual lenses though, they will not work with Auto Focus.

question

This sharp enough for 4k? and how does it do at 1.5?
Asked by: Adrian
i have not used it at 4k since my slr the 6D does not go that high. the lens is great in dark conditions and quite sharp. as user below states it is full manual and in low light makes focusing a little tricky but i am happy with with. for the money it is a great value.
