Key Features
- Equivalent to 859mm in 35mm Format
- Compatible with Pentax K-Mount
- HD and SP Coatings Improve Image Clarity
- ED Elements Reduce Chromatic Aberration
The Pentax DA 560mm f/5.6 ED AW Lens is a super telephoto lens offering a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 859mm. This long reach lens has a maximum aperture of f/5.6 and features a 9 rounded diaphragm blade construction. The optical construction of the lens includes a high-grade multi-layer HD coating on lens elements for sharp, clear imagery with reduced flare and ghosting due to internal reflections. The optical design mimics that of a telescope, and also includes two extra-low dispersion (ED) lens elements to prevent chromatic aberration and maintain image clarity across the entire picture plane. A Super Protect (SP) coating is also applied for increased protection on the front element and for greater ease when cleaning.

will it work w/K1?
My understanding is that despite being designated a DA lens, this image circle of this lens covers a full-frame sensor and it will work on a K-1 in full-frame mode. Ricoh doesn't advertise it as such, so there may be some shortcomings in using it in full-frame mode, however, they did publish a list of full-frame compatible lenses, which included this lens and it noted that the K-1 includes support for in-camera lens corrections for this lens in full-frame mode.
An old test done with a 35mm film body measured light falloff in the corners as 1.3 stops at f5.6, though the K-1's in-camera correction can presumably correct that for JPEGs (if it's enabled). That test did not examine the resolution of the corners of the image due to the negatives having not been scanned at a high enough resolution to tell.

question
Can all or any pentax k mount lenses be used on the pentax medium format digital camera?
Pentax k mount lenses are not compatible with Pentax medium format cameras. K mount lenses have an image circle that can cover a 35mm frame or an APS-C size digital sensor. The image circle is too small to cover a medium format size sensor.

question
How well does this work with the Pentax TC making an 784 mm f/8.0 lens?Is auto focus still reliable on a K-3 with the TC and this lens?
The Pentax DA 560mm f/5.6 ED AW Lens may be used with the Pentax 1.4x HD PENTAX-DA AF Rear Converter AW for K-Mount Lenses on the Pentax K-3 DSLR camera. However, as indicated on page 81 of the Pentax K-3 instruction manual, when using the 1.4x or 1.7x teleconverter, the camera will only autofocus with lenses that have a maximum aperture of f/2.8 or faster. This is because the autofocus sensor is designed to autofocus with lenses that have a maximum aperture of f/5.6 (or, at most, f/6.3). As you indicated, adding the 1.4x teleconverter onto the 560mm f/5.6 lens would make the lens an equivalent of 784mm f/8. F/8 is too dark for the autofocus sensor to detect contrast for focusing, so when using the above combination, you would have to focus manually.
