Sony E 35mm f/1.8 OSS Overview

Delivering a "normal-length" 52.5mm equivalent on APS-C-format E-mount cameras, the E 35mm f/1.8 OSS Lens from Sony is a versatile and lightweight option that will fit a variety of shooting scenarios. It offers a fast f/1.8 maximum aperture for working in low-light and creating images with shallow depth of field. Equipped with one extra-low dispersion element and two aspherical elements, images will have an absolute minimum of aberrations. Also, it has built-in Optical SteadyShot image stabilization for reducing camera shake and creating sharper images and uses an internal focus mechanism that enables fast, responsive focusing as close as 11.8". Additionally, it has a seven-blade circular diaphragm for smooth bokeh.

Designed for APS-C-format cameras, this compact 35mm lens will provide a "normal" 52.5mm equivalent focal length.
A maximum aperture of f/1.8 offers excellent low-light imaging capabilities along with the ability to create images with a shallow depth of field.
One extra-low dispersion glass element is featured in the lens design to help reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing for improved clarity and color neutrality.
Two aspherical elements are incorporated in the lens design to reduce astigmatism, field curvature, coma, and other monochromatic aberrations.
Optical SteadyShot image stabilization helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake for sharper imagery when shooting handheld with slower shutter speeds. This stabilization system can be combined with select camera's sensor-shift type image stabilization for more effective control of camera blur.
An internal focus mechanism contributes to faster, more responsive autofocus, the minimum focus distance of 11.8", and easier handling as the lens does not change in length during use.
Rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality when employing selective focus techniques.

question

Why do you say that the lense has a 52.5mm equivalent? This is a 35mm lense that is meant for an APS-C camera it is not a fullframe lense. If it was a full frame lense I would understand calling it a 52.5mm equivalent 1.5 X 35 = 52.5. But it's not a full frame lense so wouldn't it still function as a 35 mm lense on an APS-C sensor camera???

which on is better for A6000? this lens or the FE 35mm F1.8? does it makes any difference other than FE for full-frame?

I own both the E 35/1.8 and FE 35/1.8 and an a6500, a7Riv and a9. The E 35/1.8 is a LOT smaller and lighter than the FE 35/1.8 and perfectly balances and compliments my a6500. It is an excellent standard lens for the a6000. It and the 24/1.8 are my favorite lenses for the the a6xxx cameras. The E 35/1.8 has more than enough image quality for the a6000, but is really not a good lens for the Sony FF cameras since you have to use it in crop sensor mode and it is not capable of delivering the IQ needed for the full frame a7R series cameras. The FE 35/1.8 is an outstanding lens for the full frame Sony cameras. On the a6000, it would deliver slightly better IQ than the E35/1.8, but the difference would be barely noticeable. For me, I enjoy the small size of the a6500 and have developed and entire lightweight travel system of lenses for it. I also have a complete separate set of full frame gear and lenses for more “critical” work. I would only recommend getting the FE 35/1.8 if you plan on getting a full frame Sony body in the near future. If not, then get the E 38/1.8 because it delivers excellent IQ for the a6000 and is super small/lightweight, fits in your pocket and perfectly compliments the a6000.
