Apple MD823AM/A reviews

Lightning to 30-pin Adapter is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 71.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Careful if you want to use speakers I bought this along with a new iPod Nano, so I could use the Nano with my old Logitech speakers. But guess what? Because Apple put the Lightning port way off to one side on the bottom of the Nano not in the center like the 30-pin port was on older iPods my new Nano won't fit in the generously sized cutout area that the speakers offer as an iPod bay. The bay is 2 9/16 wide plenty big for the old iPods with the centered 30-pin port. If only it were 2 5/8 wide, the Nano would fit and be snugly supported. Darn! So I'm returning it. If you don't have the same speaker issue, you'll probably like the adapter. Shame on Apple for pricing it so high, though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The good and the bad The adapter is great, does all that it is supposed to do. Way overpriced, but that's Apple for ya! Do be cautious, I have a 'Commuter' style Otterbox on my iPhone 5 and because of this I cannot use the adapter at all without removing the phone entirely from its case, real bummer!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Took it back... I purchased one of these from Apple, hence the early review. Electrically, it is great. The sound quality from a high end audio system was first class. Unfortunately, the mechanical design is poor and you can't use it if your iPhone 5 is wearing a case. Secondly, balancing an iPhone at the the lightning connector appears far less robust than the 30-pin devices did. My rating is 5 for electrical performance but a dismal FAIL for mechanics.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Something is wrong with this Apple Adapt What is going on with Apple? I hooked up the Lightening to 30 Pin Adapter to my fully operational 30 pin cable expecting my new Nano IPod 7th generation to start playing through my BMW stereo system and . . . NOTHING! Also, the adapter falls out easily. Just in case, I bought another Adapter and again, FAILURE. I have now tried the connection with 3 different 30pin cables that work perfectly with my older Nanos and 3separate NEW Adapters with no success. Time to go directly to Apple for a refund!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from necessary to use new iPod on old dock if you want to use iPod touch 5 or later on an old docking device you will need to buy this. works great for listening to music HOWEVER i discovered one of my two docking stations will not charge new iPod with adapter but i can play music with it. so be warned you may not have full functionality on older docking/charging stations.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does its job, for a high price Bought a Nano in early 2013 and a docking station, sure enough they were incompatible. The adapter works fine for playing music, and it's charging through the adapter, although I think other commenters said it does not. The price seems like a good example of monopoly pricing, which is why I didn't give it 5 stars. I guess there are some technical advantages to the lightning port, but I'm frustrated that I and the accessory manufacturers bear the entire burden of the conversion. It makes me more likely to get an Android when I upgrade my phone soon.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job! This adaptor does everything I need it to do. It allows me to use my old iHome external speaker/ docking station. It even charges my iPod when it's docked.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Size matters I returned this as it would not plug into my phone. But the reason was the case was too thick. I did not need to return it at all. It works well
