The 256GB Pegasus J2 SSD Thunderbolt Storage Solution by Promise Technology is a portable and light (under 5 oz) storage solution that employs dual SSDs (solid state drives) for fast data access and bi-directional Thunderbolt technology for high throughput.

It features two 128GB mSATA drives running on a single SATA III 6.0 Gbps standard that can be configured in RAID 0 or 1 (using software RAID in Mac) or JBOD mode. It works with Apple's Time Machine for fast and efficient backups.

The unit is slightly larger than a smartphone or deck of cards, and weighs under 5 ounces, making it one of the smallest Thunderbolt drives available right now. It can be powered solely with the Thunderbolt cable (optional, sold separately) or with the included AC adapter. With the Thunderbolt cable, you can see write speeds of up to 110MBps and read speeds of 270 MBps, but with the AC adapter, the throughput can reach up to 550 MBps write speeds and 750 MBps read speeds.

Speed and Power
Configured in a RAID 0 striped set with 2x mSATA SSDs, The J2 reaches read speeds of over 750MB/s when using the AC power adapter plugged into a power outlet. The J2 is also designed to run without the power adapter, using Thunderbolt Bus Power, enabling you to experience read speeds of over 250 MB/s and write speeds of over 110 MB/s. You can switch between using AC Power and Thunderbolt Bus Power without interrupting your work.
Creativity on the Fly
The Pegasus J2 is a dual mSATA SSD (2x 128GB) portable storage unit the size of a smart phone and it weighs just 5 oz / 140 g. The J2 can go wherever you need to work, away from the studio - even off the grid in Bus Mode.
Thunderbolt technology is a new, high-speed, dual-protocol I/O technology developed by Intel and Apple, designed for performance, robustness, simplicity, and flexibility. Thunderbolt delivers two channels of 10Gb/s (1.25GB/s) per port of fast performance. PCI Express (PCIe) expansion bus protocol is integrated with DisplayPort protocol in a single cable for simultaneous data transmission and video output with no performance degradation. The huge bandwidth allows digital media professionals to edit HD video stored on the Pegasus with NLE software (such as Apple's Final Cut or Adobe's Premiere), improve work flow efficiency, and save time and money.
