Canon FINE Technology
Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) features a patented print head that enables printing with microscopic droplets and high resolution up to 4800 x 2400 dpi
True Monochrome Prints
The 3 monochrome inks which are part of the 8-ink ChromaLife 100+ system consist of Black, Gray, and Light Gray. These inks deliver enhanced, deep black density to raise your level of professional print quality when creating the dramatic expression of grayscale photography
Optimum Analysis & Mixture Of Color
The Optimum Image Generating (OIG) System utilizes two major technologies that were first introduced in the PIXMA PRO-1. The first is a sophisticated mixing balance of inks determined from numerous ink combinations and advanced analysis. During this analysis, the OIG System carefully calculates the best results for each print mode and paper type used while looking at various image factors including color reproduction, tonal gradations, black density, low graininess, glossiness, anti-bronzing and anti-metamerism. These critical ink balancing principles are derived from Canon's expertise in imaging technology, as well as the familiar colors of life that people see and remember on a daily basis. The second is the balancing of color reproduction, tonal gradations, and uniform glossiness. The genius and power of the OIG System is truly showcased when your image is printed, exhibited, and is seen exactly as you envisioned it
Pro Printing
The powerful Print Studio Pro plug-in software provides professional photographers effective printing solutions and can directly hand-over image data. Print Studio Pro is compatible with Digital Photo Professional (ver. 2.1 or later), Adobe Photoshop CS, Photoshop Elements, and Photoshop Lightroom
Built-In CD & DVD Printing

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this printer I have used this printer for the past 3 years. Its an awesome printer. I have every level of canon printer photo paper for this printer. Pro Platinum is my favorite. Ive gone through 5 sets of ink cartridge. Never had a misprint or paper jam. I use this printer to make prints from my 5diii and 5div. Prints are always exceptional. After the first set of ink cartridges i have mastered printing on this printer. I have ordered prints from ALL the major online companies. My home prints are equal or slightly better. There is a learning curve for any printer. I really enjoy printing for my personal use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unsurpassed Quality After 3 weeks of use my PIXMA PRO-100 is without a doubt the highest quality photo printer I have ever used. Because of the significant improvement in picture quality I have found myself re-printing several of my photos. The photo that validated my assessment was an 8 x 10 fall landscape scene done in sepia. The PIXMA PRO-100 provided a much better array of brown tones that was clearly observable. When comparing the PIXMA PRO-100 with other photo printers it is more costly - but you certainly get a much improved document and worth every dollar spent. The proof is in the output !!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Value Printer I have not used my own color printer for about 10 years, but the B&H price and rebate offer for the PRO-100 was too good to pass up. Once I figured out how to use Canon Print Pro Studio as a plug-in to Lightroom, I started to obtain prints that fairly match what I see on my display. Thus far I have printed about 10 8.5x11 prints, and it appears that the ink levels are holding up fairly well. As others have commented, this is a BIG printer. I was able to set it up in my basement and connect it to my home network via a wireless connection. Until I set up a 2.4 GHz network, it was not recognized by my dual band router. But all is now well!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Good, The Bad, The Cost This is my second Canon Pixma Pro-100 and I really didn't need it as I am still using my first one after several years. For its print quality and large print size it a very good printer when compared with other printers in its price and print size. I will put it in storage for backup. The real reason I purchased this printer is the egregious cost of ink cartridges, as it is with all printers in this category. It was time for me to order another ink set which is about $130.00. When I saw this printer on sale (with a full set of ink) with a rebate and free paper with a final cost to me of $150.00, the printer was free. Not a bad deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Printer I have had nothing but beautiful prints from this machine. There can be no argument ... it does use a lot of ink ($$) but my clients love the results. Note: I bought this machine to replace another PIXMA PRO-100 that I purchased 4 years ago. After 4 years of service, and almost NO maintenance, it started to produce black streaks on the prints. While waiting for this one to arrive, I tried professional cleaning on the old one ... nothing to lose since the new one was on the way. The professional cleaning, which I now know how to do, fixed the problem. The old PIXMA Pro-100 is back to producing outstanding prints. And I have a spare.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Software is the pit's I've had the Pro-100 for two months. The Printer does a good job of printing on various mediums. The Software that comes with it is pathetic. You cannot size an art print on a piece of medium with the software that comes with this machine. If you want to print an 11 x17 or a 12 x 16 on a 13 x 19 piece of photo paper , there is no way to do this !! It will print in some oddball size that you cannot buy a frame for. All my old printers at least came with software that allowed you to select the actual size of the print on the page. Does nobody at Canon try this stuff ??? There is a reference to buying photo shop to do this along with the monthly charge for the program.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Prints high quality photos This printer does an amazing job printing high quality photographs. I have been extremely pleased so far. I would have given this printer 5 stars except for the fact that it was difficult to set up with a Mac with no disk drive to read the included disc. I tried downloading all of the drivers and such and spent 3 days reading instructions, other people's comments, blogs, and canon's instructions to no avail; it would work wirelessly sometimes and then not work again. I finally had to purchase an external disk reader and install via the included disk; now it works like a dream. Canon needs to do a better job on their end.

What are introductory ink cartridges included as standard with the printer?

What are the additional 8 ink cartridges you are also providing? Are they the standard canon cartridges for this printer?
    Dick on Nov 16, 2013
Best Answer: The Canon PIXMA PRO-100 Wireless Professional Inkjet Photo Printer comes with a full set of ink tanks. Canon calls them "set up" tanks because they would be the first set used in the printer. The included tanks have 13ml of ink and the replacement set has the same volume of ink.
Reply · Report · Dan WStaff on Nov 18, 2013
There seems to be a disparity, between Steven C and Dan W of B&H, regarding the ink cartridges supplied ("starter" cartridges). I may be misreading, but one answer said the provided inks contain about 1/3 the volume of the "standard" cartridges; the other answer implied, I think, that the supplied cartridges were the "full size." Which is it?
    mshlafer on Jan 7, 2014
Best Answer: The printer comes with starter inks. These are enough to prime the system with a little ink left over for some printing.

I am a pro photographer and my size of choice for my images is 8x12. I typically use MPIX Pro (ROES) for all of my images, and use Fuji Pearl papers. Will this printer make 8x12 images specificially? This is very important, as 90% of my images would be this size. I have been reading that it has "standard" settings. I NEVER use 8x10, hate that size. 8x12 is crucial for me. Can this printer do that?
    Sheila on Sep 3, 2014
Best Answer: You have the ability to add custom sizes, like 8x12 to your printer settings.

Moab Lasal Matte 235 Inkjet Photo Scored Cards

    This paper is 235gsm.

Also, can it handle scored precut greeting card paper which is 7x10"?

Best Answer: I print 86lb Pecos Gloss Duo and never had had any problem. Don't know the max thickness the pro 100 will print, because it has printed every thickness I wanted to print with no problem.
How many sheets I could print with the setup ink tank? or I need to buy ink tanks by my self?
    shiliang f on Dec 8, 2014
Best Answer: Cartridge yields vary considerably for reasons including images printed, print settings, temperature and humidity. Yields may be lower when printing infrequently or predominantly with one ink color. A variable amount of ink remains in the cartridge. Because of this, Canon does not publish average ink yield for this printer. However, they do say you will have enough ink to be able to print a good amount once the ink system has been primed.

Regarding February 2016 Rebate .... the website states a $250 rebate, however, Canon's rebate pdf form states $200. Which is it??
Best Answer: The $250 rebate is for the printer and paper combination - it's at the bottom of the 2nd page on the rebate form.
The printer purchase from B&H includes the paper for free, which makes the purchase eligible for the $250 combination rebate.

Best Answer: Bafflegab, or legitimate pro jargon: a very fine line. I can't evaluate the technical stuff, so I can't tell which side of the line he's on. Whether he's a real person, with or without a pseudonym, I can't say. Much easier to evaluate the terse/prolix spectrum.

I need a good printer to primarily print 12x12 prints on cardstock. While I will also do some photographs I will most often be printing on cardstock. Would this printer be overkill if you will? Especially considering the cost of ink? TIA
    Geoffrey M on Feb 3, 2016
Best Answer: If you're printing 12x12, then you need a 13x19 printer, so your options are somewhat limited. There is the Epson Artisan 1430, but the ink for that is just as expensive as the PRO 100 ink is, and the Epson printer doesn't come with a $250 gift card and a free 50-pack of awesome paper. The one big advantage that Epson printer has is that it can print larger prints, up to 13x44, I think, but you don't need that based on what you said. I can tell you that the Canon Pixma Pro-100 prints amazing 13x19 prints. I love it.

With the standard 13x19 paper, how do you set it up to print smaller prints (eight or twelve 4x6 or two 8x10)? I would hate to buy this, and only be able to get one print off each sheet.
    Jay on Mar 29, 2014
Best Answer: One way to prints multiples is just using the Canon Print Pro software that comes with the printer, as it has provision to print multiple images on one sheet of paper. The printer of course, can handle various size papers anyway. I recently cut one of my 13 x 19 sheets that came with the printer, so I could test it against other papers of which I had 8 x 10, so I could decide what additional papers to buy, so I guess you can always cut a sheet too, but multiple prints per page can be done, just need software that supports that. Also Corel Paint Shop pro will do multiples too. The benefit of that software is that each print on a page can be a different size, but I could not find that flexibility with the other software.

Would I also be able to use this printer for some office printing, like envelopes and file/return address labels?? Perhaps I'd be better off with the ip8720. Is the print quality comparable between the two? I see the max dpi with the 8720 is 9600x2400 vs. 4800 x 2400 for the Pro-100... albeit with FINE technology. does that make the pro100 a better photo printer????
    Sarah on Mar 9, 2014
Best Answer: The Pro 100 is able to print labels and envelopes. It does have a "Document" mode so it will use less ink when printing in this mode. The Pro 100 has a wider color gamut and has the ability to print higher quality black/white and color images.

Does ink dry if not used?
    A shopper on Nov 7, 2017
Best Answer: I don't think I'm a good candidate to answer this - I've had the printer less than a year and I am on my 3rd package of inks, counting the inks that came in the box! If I used the printer only occasionally, I'd consider running through the maintenance routines of cleaning the inkjsts and aligning the printheads prior to each use.

Can one print in gray scale using only black ink on this printer?

Best Answer: Printing a Color Document in Monochrome

The procedure for printing a color document in monochrome is as follows:
Select Quality & Media from the pop-up menu on the Print Dialog
Set black and white photo printing
Check the Black and White Photo Print check box.

    Complete the setup
    Click Print.
When you execute print, the document is converted to grayscale data. It allows you to print the color document in monochrome.
*During Black and White Photo Print, gray ink or color inks may be used as well as black ink.
*In order to produce prints, all the cartridges have to be in its place, otherwise, the printer won't work.
*I normally change a color picture to Black and White into an editing application (iPhoto/Aperture)rather than using the printer driver

How archival are the prints? How long do they last without fading or changing color?
    Gloria M on Nov 30, 2015
Best Answer: Sorry cannot really answer this question - I have only had the printer just over a year and the of course prints I made 13 months ago are still fine but they have not been in bright sunlight or exposed to extremes of temperature
