question

I have several negatives from a panoramic camera. Can these be handled?
Asked by: Anonymous
The negative film tray can hold up to 6 frames. However, each frame is separate from the next frame. You would have to piece the frames together in post to converge the separate frames into 1 panoramic-size frame.

question

Can the OpticFilm 8100 scan 2.25 x 2.25 negatives (black and white and colour)?
Asked by: Anonymous
The OpticFilm 8100 Film Scanner is only compatible with 35mm slides and negatives. So unfortunately, it will not be compatible with 2.25 X 2.25 negatives.

I am looking to scanning old Kodak 35mm black and white negatives, mostly T-MAX AND Tri-X. Will be doing little or no color negatives or slides. It looks like scanners come in a range of prices/features. Any suggestions on the minimum I need for just blank and white scanning? Thanks
Asked by: Paul
Paul, the 8100 scanner would be great if you are scanning B/W. The main difference between the 8100 and the 8200i series scanners is that the 8100 does not have infrared dust and scratch removal. Infrared dust and scratch removal does not work with silver based B/W films like T-Max and Tri-X. So you wouldn't really be giving up any features buy purchasing the 8100 over the 8200i SE.

question

I've read through the spec's on the three different Plustek models, and I can't really tell the difference between the 8100, the 8200i Ai, and the 8200i SE. Can you tell me why one costs more or less than another?
Asked by: Anonymous
The difference between them is the included software and if it has the built-in infrared channel hardware with SilverFast iSRD for dust and scratch removal. The 8100 does not have the infrared hardware. The 8200 series has it. The software included with the scanners are: 8100 - Silverfast Multi-exposure (Good)8200iSE - SilverFast SE Plus 8 software (Better)8200i Ai - SilverFast Ai Studio 8 software (Best)
