Photoflex 870058 Overview

The Photoflex LiteReach Plus is a heavy duty three-section support that allows you to hold a Photoflex LitePanel, umbrella or softbox up to 9.6' above your subject. Shooting outdoors, especially in mid-day sun is a tough contrast situation for the photographer and a hot, physically uncomfortable one for the subject. With separate purchase of the LitePanel Mounting Hardware Kit (PHLPFHK) you'll be able to hold LitePanel frames with diffusion material up to 39 x 72" over your subject to obtain soft, manageable contrast.

You can get a similar effect using a large white umbrella in place of the LitePanel. You'll need an optional Multiclamp with Shoe Mount (B&H# PHMCUSM)or a Heavy Duty Swivel (B&H# PHSM) mounted to the LiteReach Plus' 5/8" top stud to hold the umbrella. You can also use these products to support a softbox. With a maximum tubing diameter of 1.37", the LiteReach Plus has enough heft to handle a 15 lb vertical load at its full extension

Comfort and ergonomics are key to the LiteReach's design. The large rubberized balance ball allows you to shift the weight of your gear to your hip or to the ground, while two hand grips are located at ideal spots on the shaft to facilitate single-handed or two-handed direction of the LitePanel, umbrella or softbox.

Extra long four section boom pole to facilitate resting the base on the ground using the proprietary Balance Ball technology.
All aluminum alloy heavy duty construction.
Oversized tubing for maximum strength when extended.

I've gotten so much more utility out of this than I did with lightstands and sandbags. This boom is great for wandering around a stadium, or a park getting pics of a senior.

At first I loved it but after a few uses the hardware that tightens down the telescoping tubing broke. I contacted the company and had to pay for a replacement part. Once installed I still can not use the product properly. Several assistants in site ave tried to fix unsuccessfully. Stay away.

solid and ideal for the job ...

My outdoor lighting setup is quite powerful (Einstein 640 strobe and the Paul Buff 39 inch umbrella/octabox with the Li mini vagabond) but it is also much much heavier than a speedlight + umbrella. The pole I had been using earlier (borrowed from a boom stand) was a bit too bendy and the narrow diameter made it hard to handle. The LightReach plus has several advantages: it is solid, it travels well at 3 ft (compressed) and it expands far enough (8-9 ft) so that I can get my light up high enough. I like the round ball at the bottom which I often balance on my foot. The grips are the right diameter for my hands. The flat machined into the stud keeps my strobe from unwanted rotation. Very happy with this product. Now looking for a belt holster than I could fit the ball foot into -- that would get me another couple of feet in height.

I bought this Litereach Plus mainly based on the excellent reviews it received. Unfortunately, I do not share such a glowing opinion of this piece of equipment. While it does have nice weight to it, it has very poor quality construction for its price. If it were $40, it would be five stars -- but no way it is worth over $150. It has been returned to B&H.

It's easy to use and I have no complaints. You get what you pay for. Feels tuff and durable.

Well Made - esp for lights. One of a kind.

Using it on a series. Much better than the other booms I have tried on set. It's well made, more rigid and has a baby pin. The ball is fine. Not entirely necessary.

I've used it 3 times already very sturdy and functional, it holds my strobe and modifier with ease

I have been looking for a good strong and lightweight extension pole for sometime and this is it. Beefy yet light and sturdy. I expect to use this boom for some time.

question

Would this support a Profoto B2 with a small soft box?
Asked by: Jennifer K.
This will support a Profoto B2 head with any OCF modifier with no problems. The LiteReach Plus is very beefy! In fact it will hold the B2 head and almost any RFi modifier. Just watch the wind with the larger 6ft Octa.
