Shutter Release Cable S is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Made well, works well, but... This Chinese made remote release cable is a necessary accessory, it is made very well and it works fine. What bugs me is that this cable for tye Type 006 body is different from the cable release for the S2. Why, Leica, why??I already had the older cable in perfectly good condition, but I had to dump it and buy a new one. Presumably, Leica had a very important reason for making a new cable. Also, there is no excuse for it costing $, but at least, it's $ cheaper than older version. So for those two reasons, I'm awarding it only 4 starts, as a protest. But it is a good product, and it is really necessary to get the sharpest images from your S type 006 camera and helps you to keep your ISO low even when stopped down. So it's a no brainer - get one!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Functional, well built however cheaply made!! Shame on Leica for this product. Yes, it functions well enough, the attachment plug is robust and secure, you can hang the camera by the cord and it will not disconnect. The cord is thick and well made. That is where the quality ends and the cheapest piece of plastic starts, the part held in the hand is poor at best, has no tactile feel and without looking is not easily controlled. Functionally it will trigger single frames, continuous frames and can be locked for continuous shooting. It is basic, no intervalometers, long exposures, count down timers etc. For what it is, it works well, however it could be much more. It's the only shutter release for the Leica S, 3rd party Chinese releases aren't available, however there is the option to customize this for use with pocket wizards through a certain dealer. They will chop off the cheap and keep the rest, creating an interface for the standard pocket wizard plug.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rather pricey The unit works fine. However, I have a similar shutter release for my Nikon which includes a timer and some other functions. It is $100 less than the Leica product which does not include a timer or other functions. I always assume with the Leica name it is going to be expensive compared to anything else and Leica never lets me down. BTW, it's made in China...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Better than a sharp stick in your eye... Plugging this cable into a Leica S is like putting Volkswagen accessories on a Bugatti. Sadly, it's the only option. This is the only wired option for the user who wants to use said camera system with a tripod.
