The Samyang 85mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Canon EF produces a slightly telephoto angle-of-view on full-frame sensors. It features a very fast maximum aperture of T1.5 and an 8 blade iris, for shallow depth of field with attractive bokeh. The focus and aperture control rings are outfitted with industry standard gearing, which provides an interface for working with a traditional follow focus. The aperture control ring has also been "declicked", which facilitates smooth iris pulls.

The 85mm has a minimum focus distance of 3.6'. Internal focusing minimizes the effects of lens breathing, which insures a more consistent angle-of-view when adjusting focus. The lens is composed of 9 elements in 7 groups, including one aspherical element to reduce spherical aberrations. In addition, a multi-coated elements help improve light transmission.

85mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Canon EF is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic lens, especially for the price I own two C300 cameras that I use mostly for sit down interviews for ABC News, CBS News and some HBO shows. My go-to lens for this has been the Sigma 50-150/2.8, which I find better than my Canon 70-200/2.8 mk2 (which I sold after getting two of the 50-150 Sigmas) but lately this Samyang 85mm (which is the one this review is about) has become my new favorite for when I don't need to zoom. I don't shoot it at 1.5 much, because for an interview, I can't even get both eyes in focus, but it's nice to know I have that option. Maybe for full frame stills this lens at 1.5 might be just slightly soft, but for video, that's not necessarily a bad thing. By 2.0 is nice an sharp except for the corners, but video cameras are cropped sensor cameras, So I can't even tell. The eyes are never in the corners of the frame, and that's what I need to be tack sharp. Even at 2.0, the background is nice and blurry. The fact that it is a cine lens makes it even more useful to me. I can't wait for Samyang to make a 50/1.5 cine. If it's anywhere nears as good as this one, I will be getting the full set (the 35/1.4 is supposed to be great too)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Glass This product is amazing, for both a starting kit or if you have a well established set of gear. It is probably one of the best lenses I have used in terms of bang for its buck. It is impeccably sharp and the manual aperture is a personally preferred over digital. It is a must.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens for the price! A sharp lens for the price. Great Bokeh! I enjoy being able to have a free iris. The only thing to be aware of is that you will probably need to have a follow focus as the focus pull is quite long. I would recommend this lens for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbeatable at the price This is an awesome lens, that produces a beautiful image. Skin tones are beautiful on this one, and it is a fantastic portrait lens, especially with natural light, I've found. All of that and with this price I can only say BUY IT NOW!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product!!! simple loved the Bokeh, the Built quality, the performance, especially from the soft and firm grip from both gears (focus and aperture). Of course the image at T1.5 isn't as sharp as a Carl Zeiss Cine lens or a Canon's but, for this range os price, there's none to match.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Definitely worth the money! I have only used it on one shoot so far, of course I tested it beforehand. I am very pleased with the results!
