Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun. Filter factor is between 2.3 and 2.8 (approx. +1.3 stops).

Linear polarizers are used with most manual focus cameras and are not recommended for auto-focus cameras.

This filter is 100mm x 100m (4x4") square and is 2mm thick. It is specifically intended for the Lee filter holder system and the entire filter holder must be rotated to vary the polarizing effect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The difference between good and great I always have graduated ND filters when I'm photographing landscapes. Especially in the best light, at the beginning and the end of the day, they can make the difference between an acceptable photo and a great one. They also make it possible to get great photos before sunrise and after sunset, when there is great color in the sky, but little light in the foreground.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have purchased several of these The LEE Polarizer is great and I wouldn't purchase any other. That said, the CONS are:It is made of glass and I have broken several. I wish they made one of a more resilent material like plastic. It should come in a more protective case, like the hard case that they ship the Big StopperB&H is great but, Lee often does keep it's vendors in stock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good quality I use this filter on a matte-box dslr rig, mainly to remove/control glare on surfaces (such as water, leafs/trees, windows etc.).This filter is very high quality at a reasonable price...
