    Bolt PP-400BP reviews

    PP-400BP Cyclone DR Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (11.1 V, 4500 mAh) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Battery as long as... Great battery packs as long as you don't overcharge it. I did a lot of research on Lithium ion and Lithium polymer batteries and found that they do not like heat. Heat damages them. So if left plugged in for a prolonged period, the heat generated by the charging process will extremely shorten the life. (Mine was plugged in all the time so I would be ready to go at the drop of a hat. The manual did not explicitly say you could not leave it plugged in for an extended period, though this may be implied and common sense say's you should never leave them plugged in. I did however and after 1 yr it was essentially dead. What I found is that the charge and use of the battery is controlled by a small microcomputer inside the battery pack. The battery never got hot, but did indeed remain warm after a few months plugged in. It also bulged. This was caused by the individual LIPO battery cells gassing and swelling up inside the pack. This is what alerted me to investigate the power pack; the plastic housing was swelling up. Caution: Never take one of these packs apart if you don't know what you are doing. Extreme consequences could result. I AM A PROFESSIONAL in high end electronics and work with high power sources and batteries!! The pack and computer chip controller is very reasonably priced considering what is in there, but you should unplug it after it is charged. Lithium batteries will only self discharge at about .1% per month in normal circumstances. The new battery right out of the box charged 100% in about 30 minutes. After a full night of use, the battery still had 75% left after 300 pictures. After re-charging and unplugging, 9 days later it still shows a full charge. The reason for 4 stars is the poor documentation and poor coverage on the internet by the manufacturer. Thanks fast shipping I got the replacement on time for my shoot! Bravo B&H!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Same observation than Asrahiker... I confirm all the things wrote by Asrahiker. I got the battery and left it plugged into the power cord for a very long time to charge. After a couple of months, the battery is completely gone (I take 70 photos and the battery is dead). I will probably use a power timer to stop the charge after 1h. Because youre not always near the battery after the charging delay. When it was new, the battery pack gives me satisfaction and very long duration (many hundreds of photos per charge).
