Covering a versatile range of telephoto focal lengths, the AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/4G ED VR from Nikon is a nimble solution for photographing a range of subjects, from portraits to sports. Its constant f/4 maximum aperture maintains a consistent exposure throughout the zoom range and also helps to realize a more compact and lightweight alternative to an f/2.8 zoom. The optical design employs a trio of extra-low dispersion glass elements to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations and both a Nano Crystal Coat and Super Integrated Coating help to suppress flare and ghosting. In addition to the optical advancements, this lens is also distinguished by its VR image stabilization system, which compensates for up to four stops of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting. Also, a Silent Wave Motor is used to provide fast and precise autofocus performance, along with full-time manual focus override.

Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/4G ED VR Reviews
Fantastically sharp and a joy to use.
Overall this lens exceeded my expectations. My assessments are all done on a focus calibrated D810. Wide open contrast and sharpness are both high at any focal length. Focus is fast and accurate. Bokeh is good for an f/4 tele zoom. You might be comparing this lens to the AF-P 70-300mm. The AF-P is cheaper, lets in less light, and zooms further, but it can't accept tele converters and it's optics aren't nearly as good. Choose this 70-200 f/4 if you value optical performance over versatility and price.

Excellent lens for use on the Z6/7 with the FTZ adapter. Good sharp pictures and the lens is no heavier then the other Z mount lenses. Keep up the good work B&H.
My favorite lens!
This lens is so versatile and a joy to use. I use it for landscape work, portraiture, close-up photos of flowers and occasionally for wildlife! it does great in all of those genres, and the focus is quick and quiet. The zoom ring is super smooth. The lens is thin in diameter, which makes it easy for my small hands to control. It is also very light compared to my Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 G2 or my Tamron 150-600 G2. Most importantly, this lens is sharp and produces beautiful images. I have no reservations recommending this lens.
The most enjoyable lens.
This lens is lightweight and tack sharp. Autofocus is quick and silent. It balances quite nicely on my D850 and I find myself enjoying using this lens.
so far, loving it
I've only had it for a couple of weeks now, gone out shooting everything in sight, it does not disappoint in clear day conditions, low light is a different story. While the lens is definitely lighter than the 2.8, after tinkering with it I understand other reviewers when they say they need that additional full stop. However, for the price point, nothing beats it!
NICE LENSE
Took a little bit of fine tuning on my D850, but images are very sharp. Fast autofocus.
Excellent lens on my Nikon D5.
Enjoy this stunningly bright/sharp lens for outdoor, day time sports on my D5. The lenses size and weight works for me ergonomically and f4 is sufficient when used on a D5.
Lens for SLR or go Mirrorless
Staying with my SLR camera I had no need to replace my lenses. I decided that I would buy the very best and enjoy the results this lens produces.
