The 2TB Mercury Elite Pro External Hard Drive from Other World Computing features a compact and shock-resistant design with a 3-year limited warranty to ensure it stays functional and keeps your data safe. Inside its enclosure is a 3.5" SATA hard drive with a rotational speed of 7200rpm and a capacity of 2TB, so you'll have plenty of space to save your favorite music, photos and movies.

The Mercury Elite Pro contains a USB 3.0 port (which is also backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1), an eSATA port and two 9-pin FireWire 800 ports (backwards compatible with FireWire 400, a separately sold adapter is required). The drive also comes out of the box pre-formatted for a Mac computer, but it can easily be re-formatted to work with a PC as well.

High Performance
The Mercury Elite Pro houses the Oxford 944 and Oxford 3100 USB/FireWire/eSATA chipset, which works in conjunction with the 7200rpm drive rotational speed of the installed hard drive to deliver a fast data transfer rate. In fact, the Mercury Elite Pro can reach a maximum data transfer rate of up to 300MB/s (using the USB 3.0 port)
High Reliability
A top-notch design and the best components ensure the Mercury Elite Pro Series is built to last, backed with a 3-year limited warranty by OWC
High Portability
The compact and shock-resistant design ensures safe portability. In addition, the Mercury Elite Pro offers one USB 3.0 port (backward compatible with USB 2.0/1.1), two FireWire 800 (1394B) ports and one eSATA port for easy plug-and-play on virtually any system. Even the cables are included

OWC / Other World Computing OWCME3QH7T2.0 reviews

2TB Mercury Elite Pro External Hard Drive is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Hard Drive for Video Editing I use this hard drive for video editing, and really, it has all what I could expect from a hard drive for that. It's big capacity allows me to work without worrying of data storage for at least a year, it is fast, and it can be connected either through USB 3 (which my computer doesn't have) or Firewire. No Thunderball, but I don't find it necessary for what I do. The only thing is that it is, like any big important hard drive, a little heavy and necessitate power. So if you're planning on carrying yoru drive and you don't need that much protection, you should definitely go for something smaller and lighter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid performer I use this as a scratch disk for 1080p HD video editing using a USB3 connection. Great performer for the price. I have purchased 4 of these over the years, and use them very heavily. I had 1 drive fail after 3 years of heavy use. However, no external HDD drive will last forever when used heavily for such a demanding application as video editing, so backups are common sense. Before switching to OWC I had used Lacie drives, but found the failure rate to be higher. OWC has been reliable. The drive is fairly quiet. It looks good. As some other reviews have mentioned, the blue power light is a bit intense.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Seems to work as designed This drive appears to be a quality drive. The packaging is good, the drive enclosure sturdy with all the necessary connections. I use drive for system backups, the drive is not meant to be left on all the time (no fan) but it does have nice aluminium enclosure to transfer heat. I have no regrets spending a few bucks more to obtain a more dependable backup drive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OWC hard drives work great for me Have had major issues with Gdrives and their customer service was extremely poor with several drives I bought from them that kept locking up. Have since moved all my drives to OWC drives and they have been great. Their customer service has been great too so far.
