Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Canon EF
Key Features
  • EF-Mount Lens/Full-Frame Format
  • Aperture Range: f/1.4 to f/16
  • One FLD Element, Four SLD Elements
  • Two Aspherical Elements
An optically advanced wide-angle prime, the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens from Sigma mixes a comfortable focal length with an especially fast design. The bright f/1.4 maximum aperture helps to achieve shallow depth of field and selective focus effects, and also suits working in difficult lighting conditions. The optical layout incorporates both low dispersion and aspherical elements, which help to improve sharpness and clarity by controlling both spherical and chromatic aberrations. A floating elements system is also used to maintain performance throughout the focusing range. A Super Multi-Layer Coating is also featured, and helps to minimize flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color accuracy when working in strong lighting conditions.

question

I am getting circles at 1.4 thru 2.0 when mounted to canon 5D mark IV.?
Asked by: Cardell J.
This is a now known bug between Canon's 5D Mark IV and some Sigma and Tamron lenses. At this time, these three lenses are known to have the problem: Tamron 35mm 1.8., Tamron 45mm 1.8., and Sigma 35mm 1.4. There are two fixes. 1. Stop down more than f/3. 2. Go to >Red Menu 1>Lens aberration correction>Peripheral illum corr >OFF. In any event, the raw files are fine.

Would this Canon mount version work just as well ...

Would this Canon mount version work just as well on a Sony A73 with sigma mc-11 adapter as the E mount version? The E mount version looks almost as if it just has the adapter built in. Would like the Canon mount so I can use on both bodies, but want to make sure I'd have full AF capabilities on the A73.
Asked by: Bill
I have the EF version for the very reason you point out. I've used my EF lenses on my Sigma fp, Blackmagic pocket, pocket 4k, a6300, a6400 and a6500. I currently do not own any Sony full frame cameras. I also own several E mount lenses. The E mount lenses do focus faster and better in low light at the same f stop. All my E mount lenses are f4. The ef glass with the much larger aputure does a better job at low light in general than E mount lenses at f4. If I were a sports photographer I suspect that the E mount lenses would be the better choice, but since I only shoot video focus performance is not an issue.
