Sto-Fen OM-EZ Overview

  • 1Description

Enhance the quality of light coming from your on-camera flash with the OM-EZ Omni-Bounce Diffuser from Sto-Fen. Designed for select flashes, this diffuser slides onto the flash head and will diffuse the light output, producing softer shadows and a more natural glow rather than the harsher effect created when using a direct flash. The diffuser also helps to provide even coverage across the entire frame which is especially useful for wide-angle shooting

Sto-Fen OM-EZ Reviews

OM-EZ Omni-Bounce Diffuser is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 35.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Glad Sto-Fen makes these I purchased a bargain off-brand speedlight (not Nikon or Cannon) which didnt include a snap-on diffuser. I dont often use one of these, even though I often use bounce flash, but these are a plus in some situations. Sto-Fen makes a variety of these to fit many speedlight models. I found that the search engine on the Sto-Fen website was the best way to know the right model. I would certainly buy this or similar model again, for any speedlight which came without one. I think that some off-brand speedlights actually come with these diffusers made by Sto-Fen. The plastic seems durable and flexes to fit snugly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely essential When used properly this gadget softens shadows and reduces glare. It will not cure bad shooting habits or oddball ambient lighting but it does what it is designed to do and does it very well. Given the very modest asking price, I can hardly think of a better and more useful value. When you buy one of these you must buy the one that is designed for your flash or else buy the universal model. Specific model units do not properly fit other model flashes and Omni-Bounce never claimed that they would. Buy the right one and it's a fast and easy yet secure fit. Period.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Instant help for flash pictures Most agree that bounce flash pictures provide a more natural light than direct flash shots. One drawback, though, is the possibility of shadows under the eyes since the light is coming from above. (see picture) The Omni-Bounce allows the light to still head up to the ceiling for bouncing, but also directs some of it forward to fill in the shadows on the face. (see picture) The light is more diffuse and pleasing to look at. I use the Omni-Bounce for almost all of the candids taken at weddings, and some light fill flash for close outdoor photos. One thing I noticed was that it did not offer a wide enough diffusion for use with a 17mm wide angle lens and a full frame sensor camera. I did try a different product for that which was much larger and it did a good job. But for APS-C size sensors, or longer focal length lenses on full frame cameras, the Omni-Bounce did great. Overall, you can't beat the size and the price for a gadget that makes an immediate, positive impact on your flash photos.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Don't leave home without it I purchased this for a wedding shoot I had coming up and it performed magnificently. It gave a very broad spread of light across the subject with sufficient diffusion so that it didn't look like a bare bulb flash going off. It loses 1 star on account of how difficult it was to fit it over the flash head. Now I will make this concession, this model was designed to fit the Canon and Sunpak flashes while I was using a ProMaster Flash and that might make all the difference. I would definitely buy this product again and recommend it to others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! Bought this because the fold up diffuser I use is coming apart and my ig diffuser is just too....big. So far I am impressed with its performance!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Should Come Standard with all Flashes I personally hate using flashes because of the harsh lighting they usually give. In a perfect world, we'd all be able to bounce the flash off a bright white ceiling above our subject and achieve flawless results. The Omnibounce almost gurantee's those flawless results and does it so easily, I cant figure out why the manufacturers dont include them or make them standard?? For anyone using a off camera flash, the Omni-Bounce should be in your camera bag!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ICING ON THE CAKE FOR SPEEDLITERS I now own all three of each Sto-Fen Diffussers for everyone of my Canon Speedlites for each and every model; 580 EX II's, 540EZ, 320EX II, & 270 EX II. (White, Gold, & Green) I tried one first and was hooked! Any serious Speedliter will indeed find these little diffusser domes a must have welcome addition to their lighting kit!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Works too well Diffuses light a bit too much for my tastes. I felt the light was way too soft and occasionally had a color cast, probably because the diffuse light reflected off everything in the room. I prefer the results of the Sto-Fen 2-way bounce flash instead. Its light is sharper and its height prevents red-eye.

Do you have any idea about using a flash? You can put a white plastic bag over the flash and get the same results.
