Purchased several of these to protect the glass on my more expensive canon lenses. I once dropped a tamron lens in the sand on the bank of a lake, and the UV filter shattered, but saved my lens.

Got a Hoya 49mm UV Filter for my EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens

I recently fitted each of my EF-M prime lenses w/the Hoya 43mm UV Haze NXT HMC filter. I now fitted have my EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens fitted with the 49mm version of this same filter. The main reason is to protect the fragile plastic filter threads on these lenses when I move between polarizing & nd filters. Specifically on my EF-M 32mm lens, step-up rings would spin & never snug fit. During research, I learned the Hoya UV filter would snug nicely on these lenses and provide an excellent & consistent workaround so I could use my polarizer & nd filters as usual. Happy to report this has worked nicely. An added benefit, the Hoya UV filter provides a layer of front element protection. Fyi, no discernible color shift. Overall, I am happy with this purchase. And as always, I am more than satisfied with B&H Photo's excellent order fulfillment & delivery process. Thanks B&H Photo, you're the best!
