The Hoya 62mm UV Haze NXT HMC Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Hoya HMC filters are multi-coated for reducing flare, ghosting, and reflections on the filter surface. As a result, over 97% light transmission is possible, providing you with additional contrast and high color fidelity.

The UV NXT filters are constructed from high quality, heat-resistant, high-transparency optical glass and a precision milled low-profile aluminum frame.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Where did the thread go???? If all you want is a cover for your lens then this is great. I purchased this for a lens with a 62mm filter thread and it works fine. However, when I screwed in a 62 - 77 step up ring the step up ring started in and then just kept turning. I figure that the thread relief on the step up ring and the one on the front of the filter cancelled each other and once the step up ring was screwed in there were no engaged threads. Bottom line is... if this is the screwer it works fine, but not if it is the screwee.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good filter I can't complain too much, it is an inexpensive filter. I generally buy B+W filters, but I was trying to keep my purchase price down when acquiring a Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G Micro. I am sure the more expensive Hoya's compare better to the more expensive B+W's, but this filter isn't nearly as high quality as the ones that I typically buy. It screws on easy, does its intended job of protecting the lens, and has good enough clarity for the price. Smears easier and harder to clean, and I can see a minute difference with this filter on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lens Insurance This UV haze filter was purchased along with an also recently purchased 600 Nikon Micro lens. Although the lens has a very deep barrel, my experience has shown that a glass cover is better than none. Better that I scratch or damage a two digit filter than an expensive lens. The fit is perfect and having it on my lens gives me a sense of comfort and protection. The glass is very well made without any imperfections. I am a firm believer of protective filters. As usual, the staff at B&H were helpful, courteous and knowledgeable in helping me with my purchase. I strongly recommend the filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent protection for your expensive camera lens The most important and most vulnerable piece of your camera or video recorder is the lens. This is the most cost effective protection you can buy to guard against accidental minor impacts and constant dirt / debris. Easy to clean and maintain in the field. The filter doesn't appear to introduce any noticeable degradation to the image captured by the camera, which is consistent with what I've experienced with other Hoya filters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Protection and enhancement in one UV Haze Filter I live in Arizona where the sun is relentless. While I enjoy the 300 plus days of sunshine, it can create very harsh photos. This filter naturally absorbs the ultraviolet light and helps to create a softer more even color and contrast. The quality of the filter is excellent. The threads are smooth and even and it was easy to install. I would definitely recommend this filter to photographers of all skill levels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Basic Equipment I prefer to protect my lenses with a UV filter. I know some people are concerned with image degradation, which is possible. However, front element degradation is virtually inevitable if the lens is used :) Because it reduces the effect of UV light on the subject, if there be any image degrdation from adding the filter to the expensive lens, UV light/glare reduction does improve the image quality of outdoor photos.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extra Protection I recently purchased, from B&H, a Sony DSC RX10 camera and I wanted extra protection for the excellent Carl Zeiss lens on the camera. I don't know if it was necessary but I wanted that added protection for this beautiful camera. It a clear lens and does not detract from the photo in any way. It is a perfect fit that screws on the camera lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I use UV filters for lens protection... To accomplish that the filter must not introduce reflections or aberrations of its own to lower the quality of the photo. I have used HOYA filters of several types for all of my needs for over thirty years. This one is for my recently acquired Nikon lens and does everything a moderately-priced filter should do. I will buy Hoya filters again.
