Key Features
  • Helps to Eliminate Reflections and Glare
  • Non-Coated
  • Reduces Haze in Landscapes
  • Greater Color and Tonal Saturation
The Hoya 58mm NXT Circular Polarizer Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

Hoya NXT Overview

A circular polarizer only differs from a linear polarizer in that it contains a quarter wave plane in addition to the linear polarizing filter. The addition of this quarter wave plane is to circularly polarize the linearly polarized light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarized, it permits the use of these functions.

This filter is non-coated. Hoya NXT filters have over 97% average light transmission, and are constructed from heat-resistant, high-transparency optical glass.

Hoya NXT Reviews

Great Value, Great Service

After trying a couple of different low-cost polarizing filters with nothing but frustration, I decided to upgrade and spend more money for a filter I hoped would actually work with autofocus. I considered the Canon brand $$$$ and compared it to the Hoya model $$. The reviews for Hoya and their reputation for quality convinced me to go with Hoya. Autofocus works flawlessly and the punch I get from the filter in daylight landscape photographs is terrific. The lens is well made and fits my camera lens perfectly. I must also commend B&H for a seamless and efficient ordering process and delivery. The product came in a sturdy plastic case with lots of protective material in the box around the filter case. I received my purchase inside of one week (maybe quicker, but I cant recall exactly). Overall, very very pleased with my selection and choice of vendors.

For a Hoya product, this is a complete failure. It will not screw into place and hold on any of my Nikon 58 lenses. I have to return it when I get the time.

Would buy again

I purchased this for a VERY tough assignment: capturing video of a classroom through its outside glass. The reflection problem was enormous and this CP filter fixed everything.

I bought this to replace a Tiffen that had significant vignetting until about 25 mm. This still has some vignetting at 14 mm, but it disappears at about 16-17, so a significant improvement.

I am using this filter on my canon G 12. I have always bought Hoya polarizing filters for my cameras, and have been very satisfied with the performance.

i'm new to photography. can i stack this filter with a protective clear filter or uv filter? i use a nikon d5300 and a af-p dx nikkor 70-300 ed vr telephoto
Asked by: Andres
Yes you can stack the filters but in general it is recommended to only use either the clear filter or the polarizer. When you stack more layers of glass, you increase the risk of light flares and ghosting in the photo.
