Hoya 62mm NXT Circular Polarizer Filter
Key Features
  • Helps to Eliminate Reflections and Glare
  • Non-Coated
  • Reduces Haze in Landscapes
  • Greater Color and Tonal Saturation
The Hoya 62mm NXT Circular Polarizer Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

Hoya NXT Overview

A circular polarizer only differs from a linear polarizer in that it contains a quarter wave plane in addition to the linear polarizing filter. The addition of this quarter wave plane is to circularly polarize the linearly polarized light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarized, it permits the use of these functions.

This filter is non-coated. Hoya NXT filters have over 97% average light transmission, and are constructed from heat-resistant, high-transparency optical glass.

Clears up haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.
Non-coated.
Strongest effect when used at a 90° angle from the sun.
Circular polarizers are ideal for use with digital cameras and autofocus lenses where a linear polarizer will often disrupt auto exposure and focus features.

Since my new sunglasses were polarized, I see what I, and my camera, was missing. Fit the camera perfectly and if you turn the filter in the opposite direction of how it was screwed on, I haven't had the filter come off when turning the filter for adjustments.

Put this on my 70-250 zoom for cityscape work, it helps the sky pop (as you might expect and is very helpful when rivers are involved. Nice filter.

I've used Hoya filters in the past and have always been happy. So when I saw this as a deal of the day I jumped. I was not disappointed. Thank you Hoya and thank you B&H!!

I've always wondered about Hoya quality compared to higher priced filters. I've got no issue with this filter and wouldn't hesitate to buy this brand again.

Works as expected...and with cameras today being able to handle very high ISO, and post-processing noise removal, I can still shoot handheld at reasonable shutter speeds.

question

Hello,I noticed the only difference between this Hoya circular polarizer and last years model is this one is not coated. What is the benefit of a non-coated filter?Sincerely,Daniel
Asked by: Anonymous
The main benefit of a non-coated filter is a lower price point. A multi-coated filter will provide dramatically improved light transmission and resistance to glare. If you have the option to spend more for multi-coating, I would definitely recommend it.

Why won’t this filter tighten on my lens? It’s a 62mm and that what my lens takes.
Asked by: David
The loose portion is the adjustment ring for polarization. Otherwise the filter will fit tight to your filter thread on the lens.
