Hoya alpha UV Filter Overview

The Hoya 58mm alpha MC UV Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Hoya alpha UV filters are multi-coated for reducing flare, ghosting, and reflections on the filter surface. As a result, a higher light transmission of approximately 96% is possible, providing you with additional contrast and high color fidelity.

The alpha filters are constructed from optical glass and a precision milled aluminum frame.

question

will this fit a Nikon 5200 camera with a zome lens?
Asked by: Anonymous
Filters fit on lenses directly, not cameras. If the lens you have on the camera uses 58mm sized filters than this would fit. If you are not sure what size filter/cap your lens requires, you may remove the lens cap, and on the underneath side it will list the filter/cap size. If you do not have the cap or are not certain, you may send an email to [email protected] and indicate what specific lens you have, and our agents there can reply with the proper filter size and options.

question

Is this filter compatible with Canon SX530?
Asked by: Anonymous
While the Canon PowerShot SX530 HS Digital Camera does not have filter threads built into the camera lens, if you purchase the Canon Filter Adapter FA-DC67A B&H # CAFADC67A, you would then be able to attach the Hoya 67mm alpha MC UV Filter listed above for use on your Canon PowerShot SX530 HS Digital Camera.

question

Will this fit my Nikon D3200?
Asked by: Anonymous
It depends on the lens you have on the camera. If you have the 18-55mm kit lens for example it would be a proper fit. If you are purchasing it for another lens, you may remove the lens cap from the lens and look on the underneath side of the cap where it will indicate the filter/cap size that the lens requires.

question

The camera (Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ70) has a 55mm filter thread size. Can you verify that this particular filter requires the DMW-LA8 lens adapter as shown in the camera's Essential Accessories window?
Asked by: Anonymous
The DMW-LA8 is only required to mount the conversion lenses to the camera. It is not required to mount 55mm sized filters to the camera however.

question

What's the difference between this uv alpha MC filter and the 52 mm UV haze NXT filter...both by Hoya?
Asked by: Chester
While mostly similar, there are a few differences between the Alpha and NXT filters. Both filters have three layers of multi-coating on each side of the filter, but the coatings on the Alpha filter allows 95% light transmission, while the multi-coating on the NXT filters allow 97.5% light transmission. The other difference is the Alpha filters frames have a standard thickness of 5mm, while the NXT filter are thin/slim filters designed for use on ultra wide-angle lenses. The NXT filters would be a slightly higher class of filters, while the Alpha filters would be a high-quality economical option.
