Hoya C-ALP72UV overview

  • 1Description

The Hoya 72mm alpha MC UV Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Hoya alpha UV filters are multi-coated for reducing flare, ghosting, and reflections on the filter surface. As a result, a higher light transmission of approximately 96% is possible, providing you with additional contrast and high color fidelity.

The alpha filters are constructed from optical glass and a precision milled aluminum frame.

    Hoya C-ALP72UV reviews

72mm alpha MC UV Filter is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Be careful opening! When opened package, the piece of wire that keeps the glass from popping out was not secure. The glass immediately popped out, thankfully onto the carpet. It was easy to out back together. So not worrying about sending back. So far has been securely in place

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Design your lens will suffer Would you place a spring loaded piece of metal millimeters from the front element of your lens? As many reviewers point out I received 2 filters with the holding element out of place. It was when I received the third one that I noticed that this metal element holding the glass in place is in the inside and is not a solid ring but a split one and it could become loose any moment and land in your lens front element. If the use of a filter is to protect the lens from scratches and hits, this filter will do the opposite when the metal jumps out... metal and glass of filter will hit the front element of your lens. B and H have been, as always, impeccable with their service and prompt response in replacing the filters, I am just not going to use these filters they are dangerous for your lenses.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DOA Filter came DOA. Package was undamaged, manufacturer defect, clip that holds filter in ring was bent. Returned to B&H will be about a 10 day turnaround over the holidays. Will see if the next one is any better.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Construction Don't bother with theHoya 72mm alpha MC UV Filter. The first one I ordered arrived with the filter retaining ring having popped out. I was not able to re-seat it. I returned it to B&H for an exchange, which was really easy to do. However , when I received the replacement filter, the retaining ring was partially loose. I was able to re-seat the ring and install it on my Nikkor 10mm-20mm wide telephoto. I heartily recommend B&H Photo, but will stear clear of Hoya products in the future.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Some assembly required I bought a Hoya 72mm alpha MC UV filter that was in a sealed Hoya package. When I opened the package I had 3 pieces that fell into my hand: the glass filter element, the metal ring, and the metal spring that holds the filter element in place. I've never bought a filter that required some assembly. Further, the glass element had splotches on it that I had to clean off. Surprising. Usually Hoya quality has been much better.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Build It Yourself UV Filter I recieved this filter dismantled, and had to assemble it myself. This was fairly easy to do, so i didn't mind. The glass was also stained with something, and it affected my images quite a lot. After cleaning it up, however, the optical performance is really good. I do prefer to buy finished products, and not having to assemble them my self though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Set it and forget it This filter is easy to screw on and forget that it is there. I wanted it mostly for protection. My lenses aren't decent quality worth protecting, but not top of the line where I worry about this covering my expensive glass. Works for my purpose! It feels like it is made of quality material.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable, high quality filters I abuse my filters - and Hoya stands up to teh abuse. I live in Alaska, deal with rain, dirt, sand and a lot of mosquito repellant. (It's almost inevitable that a fine mist of repellant will settle onto everything I own) The Hoyas are distortion free and have protected my lenses.
