Oben AC-1351 overview

  • 1Description

The AC-1351 3-Section Aluminum Tripod with PD-117 Pan/Tilt Head from Oben is an ideal tripod head combo for photographers looking for individual control on all axes. The sturdy 3-section aluminum legs can hold a camera or camcorder up to 13.2 lb, and will extend up to 67".

The legs are non-rotating, and have flip locks on each leg to adjust the height of the tripod. Each leg is independently adjustable, and they can be locked securely at three different angles. The tripod's feet feature rubber tips which are great for shooting on slippery or hard surfaces.

The center column features a twist lock that frees up its extension and retraction. For protection when it's retracted quickly, there's a rubber damper that protects the center-post collar. At the bottom of the center column is a spring-loaded ballast hook that allows you to attach a counterweight for extra stability. The detachable hook doubles as a stopper for the center column, which can be removed and reversed for low-angle shooting.

The PD-117 head allows independent camera adjustment on the horizontal and vertical planes as well as 360° panning. Two locking handles control the front-to-back and side-to-side tilt, and a thumb screw locks and unlocks the panning motion.

The quick release system includes an RP-20 plate with a video pin, and a safety lock on the release lever, preventing accidental release of the camera. Two bull's eye levels, and three tubular levels ensure your camera will be level on both the horizontal and vertical axes.

This tripod also includes a fitted, padded carry case with a removable shoulder strap, two heavy-duty zippers, and an interior zipper pocket. A tool clip with two hex wrenches for adjusting the center column and the leg joints is also included. It snaps onto any of the tripod legs for easy access.

    Oben AC-1351 reviews

    AC-1351 3-Section Aluminum Tripod with PD-117 Pan/Tilt Head is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hmmm...could be better. I do real estate photography so my camera needs to be level, but portable to get through doorways and to fit around furniture. My first complaint is that the head angles are difficult to adjust and lock in. The tightening of the knobs moves the tilt a bit every time. It would help if the tilts moved smoother too, I think. If I have the camera level side to side and locked in, then adjust the front to back just a bit, the side to side changes. It's like the fittings are too soft or something. Second, the feet are slippery on a hard floor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good tripod for the price I really like this Tripod even though it's little heavy. It has a nice carrying case which makes it easier to carry on my shoulder. I didn't hike with this yet so can't tell if the extra weight is little too much. I had a little trouble shooting panorama with this. I did make sure my first shot was perfectly aligned using my Camera's built-in electronic level. I assumed the horizontal rotation would keep the shots aligned but when I tried to merge in Photoshop it was a nightmare. Maybe my technique was wrong or maybe I'd just need to realign my camera after every rotation. But overall I think this is a nice Tripod for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best tripod I've purchased! Love this tripod! It's incredibly versatile because each leg moves separately from the others. I also love how tall it gets! As a 6'+ tall person i can really appreciate the fact that my camera is eye level with me and could still be made taller. My only complaint is you have to remove the handles on the head to get the tripod to fit in its case. Which isn't a big deal, just slightly annoying.. so I gave up on the case.. but other than that it's perfect for what I needed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from takes a little getting used to! It took a little while to get used to the different handles and this is not my first pan handle tripod. Relatively light weight, so I had no issues with carrying it around for my EURO trip. Cannot keep both the handles attached to the tripod in order to place it in the supplied carry on bag and also the supplied case is very snug. Maybe I need a little more practice with it, but when I mounted my Nikon D800 with 28-300mm lens and adjusted it vertically, it would not stay in that position and kept on tilting down.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly Pleased WIth OBEN For me, I needed a an average Tripod. I was surprised with the quality for the money spent. I usually like Bogen or Manfrotto. I am definitely adding Oben to the like list. I'm an average amateur photographer. My needs aren't too outrageous. I take it hiking and use it for some macro work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I think it's great tripod for a good price. I think it's just as nice as the similar Manfrotto tripod at a much lower cost. Professional in every aspect. It's also a bit lighter as well. Well made, strong and sturdy but light weight. Very nice three way head control and leg locks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light but sturdy I like being able to do a tilt and pan using separate controls. This tripod has that ability. Also it is light enough to carry but sturdy enough to hold the camera still. I do use a wired remote.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great BUT The tripod and head are great quality, BUT the fancy bag it came with is not big enough to put the tripod head in without disassembling it.
