You can capture brilliant photos and Full HD 1080p video of coral, parrot fish, and other sea life at depths as great as 200', thanks to Ikelite's Underwater Housing for the Canon PowerShot G15 Digital Camera. Built-in TTL circuitry and an Ikelite 5-pin bulkhead sync connector enable the attachment of optional external strobes, which may be mounted onto the quick-release grip handle attached to the supplied tray.
Mechanical controls provide access to all camera functions except for the diopter adjustment control and flash pop-up button. The camera's built-in pop-up flash is usable, but due to the inaccessibility of the button, it cannot be pushed back down while the camera is inside the housing. To soften the light of this flash and thus prevent backscatter and hard shadows, a flash diffuser is included. Additionally, a flash deflector is supplied to redirect the light of the built-in unit towards an external strobe for more effective, reliable triggering.
Built for durability, the enclosure is made in the USA from corrosion-resistant polycarbonate and acrylic, which are clear to enable you to monitor the O-ring seal and camera controls. You can attach optional 67mm wide-angle and macro wet lenses to the housing's built-in, 3.9", flat glass lens port. To restore colors that get absorbed underwater, you may also attach optional, external color-correction filters for blue and green water.
- Depth rating: 200'
- Made by hand in USA from corrosion-resistant polycarbonate and acrylic
- Clear to enable you to monitor the O-ring seal and camera controls
- Close the two stainless steel locking latches to see the O-ring form a solid, black, watertight seal
- Buoyancy is nearly neutral in freshwater
- Large, ergonomic mechanical controls, including push-buttons, knurled knobs/dials, and a lever, provide access to all camera functions except for the diopter adjustment and flash pop-up controls
- You can use the camera's built-in, pop-up flash, but because of the inaccessibility of the button, you cannot push it back down once camera is inside housing
- Equipped with 3/8"-16 bolts with 3" spacing for the mounting of the included tray and grip, which improve comfort and handling while providing an attachment point for lighting arms
- Built-in port with flat glass front element and 3.9" diameter
- Accepts optional, external, wide-angle and macro wet lenses with 67mm threads
- Ikelite WD-4 Wide-Angle Dome keeps images sharp from corner to corner with no vignetting
- Wide-angle lenses increase your angle of coverage, allowing you to get close to your subject while fitting more in the frame
- Macro lenses will enable extreme close-up shots with great clarity and detail
- Both types of optics cut down on distortion caused by the water, thus improving image quality
- You can replace the standard port with the optional shorter wide-angle port with 67mm threads, which permits you to attach the Ikelite W-30 and other 67mm threaded lenses while only slightly restricting the camera's zoom range
- Port accepts optional color-correction filters, which replace natural tones that would otherwise be lost due to absorption once you go beyond a certain depth underwater. Red and orange are generally lost once you descend farther than 15-20'
- Available filters include #6441.46 for blue water and #6441.86 for green water. Use these filters without a strobe
- Camera's built-in flash can illuminate your subject underwater, but is only effective at distances of 1-3'
- An optional external strobe is highly recommended, as it has greater reach, coverage, and color-correcting capabilities than the camera's built-in flash, and will also reduce or eliminate backscatter, glare, and hard shadows
- Strobes can be connected via sync cords or triggered as wireless slave units by the built-in flash
- Housing has built-in TTL flash circuitry and an Ikelite 5-pin TTL bulkhead sync connector
- Trigger an Ikelite DS Substrobe with automatic exposure without firing the camera's built-in flash, in order to eliminate backscatter, improve exposure accuracy and consistency, extend battery life, and accelerate recycling time
- Compatible Ikelite strobes include DS50 (above serial number 70000), DS51, DS125 (above serial number 5000), DS160, DS161, and DS200
- DS161 Substrobe, with a 90° angle of coverage, 500-lumen brightness, and 4800K color temperature, can even double as an LED video light
- Non-Ikelite strobes are compatible in manual mode
- Included flash diffuser softens the light of the camera's built-in flash, while a supplied deflector redirects the light towards an external strobe for more reliable wireless triggering
