The Schneider Optics 68-886601 Essential Filter Kit for RED contains 4 Schneider filters, such as, the ND.9, ND1.2, ND1.5, and True-Cut 750 IR Filters.
The ND.9, ND1.2, and ND1.5 are Neutral Density Filters used for cinematography. These filters have a Neutral Density of 0.9 (3 stops), 1.2 (4 stops), and 1.5 (5 stops), which reduce transmission by 87.5%, 94%, and 97% respectively. A common use for these filters is to allow the use of larger apertures, which reduces depth of field, and to allow selective and rack focuses.
The True-Cut 750 IR filter is developed to remove the IR spectrum from the light path, resulting in more vibrant colors and true blacks from both CCD and CMOS imagers. This IR filter blocks the IR light mere nanometers from the visible spectrum, eliminating IR pollution from the image. This easy-to-clean filter maintains a high MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) in the visible spectrum and its coating meets or exceeds military standards for durability. The True-Cut IR 750 filter is manufactured from crystal clear, water white optical glass that is diamond cut, precision ground, and polished to the most exacting tolerances.
