Cokin CH150B62A overview

  • 1Description

The Cokin 62mm PURE Harmonie Variable Density Neutral Gray Filter is a solid variable neutral density filter providing a reduction of about 1 to 8 stops. The 0.3 to 2.4+ (ND2-ND300) density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. The degree of density is easily controlled by rotating the front filter ring, allowing you to previsualize the additional exposure length required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. For easier, repeatable control over density settings, the front ring is also visually demarcated with dots that each represent one stop of neutral density.

The EVERCLEAR 5 Coating Technology is a multi-layered anti-reflective coating applied to the filter substrate in order to maintain effective light transmission and suppress surface reflections and flare. Additionally, the coating provides protection against five distinct elements: water, oil, dust, soil, and scratches.

This optical glass filter is set within a thin aluminum filter ring, which measures just 9.5mm-thick. This slender profile is ideally suited for use with wide-angle lenses in order to lessen the likelihood of vignetting.

Variable neutral density filter allows you to dial in differing amounts of density scene to scene.
ND 0.3 to 2.4+ filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.
Providing a reduction of 1 to about 8 stops, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.
Filter does not affect coloration of the image.
Anti-reflective EVERCLEAR 5 multi-layered coating helps to protect the filter from water, oil, dust, soil, and scratches, in addition to maintaining image contrast and reducing lens flare and ghosting.
Thin aluminum filter ring measures 9.5mm-thick, making it ideal for use with wide angle lenses in order to prevent vignetting.

    Cokin CH150B62A reviews

62mm PURE Harmonie Variable Density Neutral Gray Filter is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cokin 62mm ND Filter For my travel photography, it works very well on the Oly 12-40mm lens. For example, on a bright sunny day, a long exposure to achieve a misty waterfall look is simply impossible without this ND filter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great but filter diameter should be specified This is great varable nd filter. I have 2 now. My only complaint about the series is that the front filter thread is larger than the actual size. For example i bought a 62mm but the front filter thread seems to be 67. I say seems to be as nowhere is it mentioned what it actually is. Makes it difficult to know what size filter attachments i can use with it. Trial and error. Would be useful if it was noted in specs. Otherwise high quality filter that gets the results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would highly recommend this ND filter Really like this. Note that in the reviews someone says it has stops at min/max. It DOES NOT have stops and I've discovered this is a good thing. You can experiment with some interesting effects by going past the min/max points. It is very thin and light and I did not get any vignetting. I used it to do some slow water shots and they came out great. I was able to get several good 30 second shots one of which I attached here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice variable Neutral Density Filter I have used this VND twice on my Sony RX10II to shoot video. So far it has worked great. I like the fact that it has hard stops at both ends of the usable range. I can adjust it without looking (other VDN are continuous rotation and you can get lost as to where you are in the filter range, not a big deal but different). So far I have found no negatives. It does just what I want it to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Filter is wider than mount! I was concerned that I would have problems with this filter when I bought it because it's obviously thicker than the other Cokin filters. It's about the same as the polarizer in terms of vignetting because the filer is wider than the mount size. I'm using this on a 12mm and it darkens but is recoverable in Lightroom.
