RODE Reporter Overview

The Rode Reporter Omnidirectional Handheld Interview Microphone is designed for interviews and presentations in the field. Its dynamic transducer capsule is shockmounted internally for rejection of handling and low-frequency environmental noises. The mic also features a frequency response tailored for speech, with a boost between 4 and 10 kHz for added intelligibility.

With a forgiving omnidirectional pickup pattern well-suited for interviews, the Reporter can be placed between you and your interview subject, without the need to adjust its placement to pick up both speakers. The microphone is equipped with an internal, multi-layer mesh basket that acts as a windscreen, reducing plosives and avoiding the need for an external wind shield.

Ergonomic die-cast body
Anti-glare, matte-black finish for discreet appearance on camera
Multi-layer wind protection
Dynamic capsule does not require phantom power
Extra-long handle is balanced for comfort and allows you to get closer to the person speaking

Will this work bluetooth with an iPhone? And if so what exact pieces do I need?
Asked by: Mj
Yes, you can use the RODE Reporter Omnidirectional Handheld Interview Microphone with a wireless microphone system that has a plug-on transmitter. The Sennheiser XSW-D PORTABLE INTERVIEW SET Digital Camera-Mount Wireless Plug-On Microphone System with No Mic (B&H # SEWXSPISTR) can be used with a Lightning adapter, or the Mackie EleMent Wave XLR Compact Digital Wireless Plug-On Microphone System for Cameras and Smartphones (B&H # MAEWLXLRWLM) are both good options.

question

Is this mic battery powered? I would connect it an sennheiser eng 100w wireless transmitter base for handheld mics. Will this mic function attached to this XLR transmitter base?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Rode Reporter is a dynamic mic which requires no power in order to operate. It is compatible and can be used with the Sennheiser EW 100 series plug in transmitter.

Can Phantom Power damage the Rode Reporter? I ...

Can Phantom Power damage the Rode Reporter? I accidentally had Phantom on, and it still worked for about 4 hours, but wonder if there could be any damages.
Asked by: Seungmin
While the Rode Reporter does not require phantom power, it can be used on a cable with phantom power without the risk of damaging the microphone. However, it is always best to turn off phantom power when the microphone you are using does not require it, as some mics such as vintage ribbon mics can be permanently damaged by phantom power.
