Senal CS-88 Overview

The Senal CS-88 DSLR-Video Shotgun Microphone is designed for recording live audio directly to your DSLR camera. The CS-88's back electret condenser capsule, wide frequency response, flexible gain control, and shotgun design make it ideal for recording dialog and interviews both outdoors and indoors from a variety of distances. With its cardioid polar pattern, the CS-88 is optimized to focus on the subject while rejecting off-axis sound, making it great for ENG, film, broadcast and more.

The CS-88 attaches to your camera's shoe mount or to a boom pole and plugs into the camera's audio input jack to deliver natural, professional-quality sound. It's integrated shock mount isolates the microphone from vibrations caused by your camera or boom pole to minimize handling noise, thereby improving your recordings. On the side of the microphone, you'll find a three-level gain switch that provides a +10 dB boost, 0 dB unity gain, or -10 dB pad to prevent distortion from audio overload. Furthermore, the mic features a switchable high-pass filter at 60 Hz to roll off unwanted low-frequency noise and rumble.

The CS-88 runs on a single AA battery and its power indicator LED glows green when the mic's on/off switch is turned on. For convenience, the indicator LED glows red when it's time to change the battery. The mic comes with a foam windscreen that helps reduce wind noise and a drawstring carry pouch for safe storage and transport.

question

What model mic is best for recording musical theater with a Sony NX100?
Asked by: Walter Z.
LOL, I guess I didn't tell you I am on a budget and this is my first experience with camcorder mics. I hope you can give me other than an $800 option. I do like that mic if within my budget. Anything in the $100-$200 or less option for a novice? Thanks James

question

Is it compatible with a canon rebel t3?
Asked by: Anonymous
I don't think so. You have to have a microphone port on the side of the camera to plug it into. the higher end cameras like the Canon EOS 6D and 5D have a microphone port on the side. I don't think the lower end rebels have microphone ports.when looking to see if your camera has this port, make sure to look carefully at the symbol on the cover. the microphone in, and audio out both use the same type of port. make sure to look for a microphone symbol on the rubber cover to confirm.

question

Does this attach to Camcorders?
Asked by: Anonymous
The CS-88 will attach to any camcorder that has a standard shoe mount and 1/8 mic input jack. If your camcorder does not feature a standard size shoe mount a bracket will be needed. We recommend the Vello CB-510.

question

is this mic compatible with the Sony Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera series?
Asked by: Anonymous
The CS-88 microphone features a cable with 1/8 jack for connection to cameras and similar devices. Unfortunately the Sony Alpha a6000 is not equipped with a mic input jack and will not be compatible with this mic.
