B+W 66-1073876 overview

  • 1Description

The B+W 39mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter is a general use, clear filter designed to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. Aside from the reduction of unwanted blue casts, no additional coloration or contrast is created, and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections while providing over 99.8% light transmission, each glass surface includes multiple layers of anti-reflection coating. This Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) also offers greater protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters. The Nano coating associated with XS-Pro filters provides an additional eighth layer over the MRC, resulting in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

B+W filters are constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. This filter features a thin brass filter ring to minimize the potential for vignetting while enhancing durability and jamming prevention. To further reduce the possibility of vignetting when this filter is in use, the filter ring's outside diameter is slightly larger than the actual thread size. This may prevent the use of some lens manufacturer bayonet hoods.

This UV Haze filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Such filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your front lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

    B+W 66-1073876 reviews

    39mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Vignette for 35mm or wider angle lenses Attached the 39mm B+W filter to Leica Summicron 35mm Pre-ASPH V4 for full-frame camera (Sony a7S via Kipon adapter). Introduces additional, visible vignette at four corners, compared with filter being removed. It turns out that the metal frame are too wide to not block the light coming from the corners; the diameter of the glass is only 33mm (measured) for this 39mm filter. This is unacceptable. Maybe usable for 50mm or longer lenses. Absolutely NOT recommended for 35mm or wider lenses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Improved over the regular MRC filters. For years now, the B+W MRC filters have been my standard filters of choice. I've tried many brands, including the Hoyas (also excellent admittedly), Heliopan SH-PMC and Leica (both of the latter are very costly). However, for the latest lens, I decided to try this filter with the Nano coating. It does make cleaning the filter significanly easier. Not only that, the filter ring is thinner. There is not as much metal holding the glass, so that when you mount the hood, there is not a thin rim of metal from the filter visible inside the base of the hood. I think that these changes are worthwhile, especially for wide angle lenses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality product I've been buying B+W filters for as long as I can remember. They're made of high quality material and withstand the daily use I put on them. This includes shooting in all the elements and in situations where objects can hit the lens. Some people say that adding a filter deteriorates the quality of the image. If so, it's negligible and I'd rather have something protecting my glass then it cracking and having to spend hundreds of dollars to replace. Filters are a cheap investment when it comes to protecting your gear. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 39mmXS-ProUV filter Using it to protect the 50mm SUMMICRON DR lens on an old M3 Leica. Also, this filter has a particularly low level of reflection or flare, so that is an added bonus as it will not add artifacts to photos.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Standard set up for any Leica lens in 39mm A Leitz lens without a B+W 010 haze filter is like Winter without snow. All my 39mm mount lenses have a B+W protector. I don't understand the purists who think a filter degrades the image - NOT!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not a big fan but B+W the best Let me start by saying that I am not a big fan of protective UV filters and generally don't use them. For me, the lens hood is quite enough protection for the lens. But sometimes there is no lens hood like for the Fuji 27mm pancake lens. In these rare cases, I will look to add a filter such as this just for that added bit of protection for the front glass. That said, I have found B+W to be the best UV filters available. More pricey but I do believe you get what you pay for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from World Class Filters ! I use B+W filters on my lenses because they are possibly the best you can buy. My lenses are rather expensive, and things happen (wind blowing sand off the construction site, small children putting fingers on the lens, hair spray in the air during fashion shows etc). A filter is cheap insurance, and these do not compromise the image quality! I have been using B+W for years (almost 30) Wonderful Product !
