The B+W 46mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter is a general use, clear filter designed to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. Aside from the reduction of unwanted blue casts, no additional coloration or contrast is created, and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections while providing over 99.8% light transmission, each glass surface includes multiple layers of anti-reflection coating. This Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) also offers greater protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters. The Nano coating associated with XS-Pro filters provides an additional eighth layer over the MRC, resulting in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

B+W filters are constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. This filter features a thin brass filter ring to minimize the potential for vignetting while enhancing durability and jamming prevention. To further reduce the possibility of vignetting when this filter is in use, the filter ring's outside diameter is slightly larger than the actual thread size. This may prevent the use of some lens manufacturer bayonet hoods.

This UV Haze filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Such filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your front lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

    46mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I use these on all my lenses now. I'm not sure when I look at my RAW files I can tell the difference between a B+W filter and others that cost less, but compared to the cost of a lens these are money well spent. I use UV filters on all my lenses - Nikon, Sigma, Tamron, Olympus, Panasonic -- for protection and these days I'm buying only B+W. Considering the cost of a lens I don't see the point of scrimping to save $10 or $20 on the price of a filter. Filters with the MRC-Nano coating are worth the price for the sake of smear-free cleaning. I've had no trouble with ghosting, etc. given I use either a lens hood or a strategically placed hat or hand as a shade when I think sunlight might cause an unwanted effect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best filters I have used. Cost a little more but worth it. I prefer to use a filter to protect the lens glass, since I do not always use a hood. I've bought inexpensive lenses in the past, but have some fine quality lenses now that I really didn't want to put lesser filters in front of. So, I tried the B +W filters one one lens at first. I was so impressed I bought one for each of my better lenses. There is no distortion or increased flaring, or any negative effects that I have found on any of my lenses. I am very impressed with these filters as a result, and will buy more of them for other lenses in the future, as I acquire them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than Leica filters Solidly built, firm mount, slim, easy to clean; considerably better (and cheaper) than the filter made by Leica I previously used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent filter I've used them for most of Leica M lenses with 46mm thread when they are needed, and they prove to be consistently excellent without ill effects. They are well-made and fit well, and I have never had difficult taking them on or off the lenses with proper handling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from high quality glass I use this product to block UV for film and digital photography and to provide additional protection to lens elements. The glass in the filter is at least as good as the glass in the lens, so no degradation of image occurs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must Have! Forget Tiffen and Kenko. Protecting your front element needn't reduce image quality. B+W'sUV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filters have maximum transmission and zero degradation based on my own in-studio lens tests using ANSI targets, and other lens testers on the web. And the nano coating make cleanup a breeze if you're an outdoor photographer. Don't go cheap - buy this in your size, mount it and forget about it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the cost I have a bunch of inexpensive UV filters - Vivitar, Hoya, Amazon Basic, etc. - and I did and A/B comparison with B+W. With sun or a bright light hitting the lens, all the other filters added a very noticeable layer of haze/flare/reflections. With the B+W the image was indistinguishable from the lens w/o a filter.
