B+W 66-1075250 overview

  • 1Description

The B+W 67mm XS-Pro Digital ND Vario MRC-Nano Filter is a solid variable neutral density filter providing an exposure reduction of 1 to 5 stops. The 0.3 to 1.5 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. The degree of density is easily controlled by rotating the front filter ring, helping you to predetermine the additional exposure length required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. For easier, repeatable control over density settings, the front ring is also visually demarcated with dots that represent different density values.

The Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) is both an anti-reflection coating as well as a protective surface. It helps to increase light transmission by reducing reflections, scattered light, and ghosting. Additionally, it offers greater protection to the filter substrate and stays cleaner for longer than uncoated filters. The Nano coating associated with XS-Pro filters provides an additional eighth layer over the MRC, resulting in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

B+W filters are constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. This filter features a thin, oversized mount which helps to reduce the likelihood to vignetting when used with wide-angle lenses. The filter ring is made from brass for durability as well as jamming prevention.

Variable neutral density filter allows you to dial in differing amounts of density scene to scene.
0.3 to 1.5 density filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.
Providing a reduction of 1 to 5 stops, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.
Offers increased flexibility to use specific ISO settings or ISO films under bright ambient light.
Provides increased exposure flexibility while using cinema or video cameras within a designated film frame rate.
Multi-Resistant Coating offers both protection to the glass and helps to improve light transmission and image quality.
Nano coating promotes an improved beading effect with water for more efficient cleaning.
Oversized and slim mount helps to reduce the likelihood of vignetting with wide-angle lenses.
Thin brass filter ring helps to prevent jamming and provides additional strength.

67mm XS-Pro Digital ND Vario MRC-Nano Filter is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every cent What a fantastic piece of equipment! Worth every cent. Great quality, great image. Won't ever be without it. We shoot video so we don't need the big stopper effect. Can shoot in full sun at f4 or in extreme cases f5.6, so has the perfect range for what we do. Previously we used a different (and expensive) variable ND with very disappointing results, so not having to worry about colour shifts and unequal exposure in my images is just fantastic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Image Quality Throughout Its 5-Stop Range This is the first and only ND filter that I have owned. The build quality is excellent. The brass ring is solid and easily screws on/off my lenses and step-down rings without cross-threading or jamming. I like that the filter stops rotating when it reaches its min or max range. Even though the outer threads are 72mm on this 67mm filter, I can use it with the lens hood on my Canon 18-135mm IS STM kit lens (67mm threads). It also fits inside the lens hood of my Canon 70-300mm IS USM lens in spite of it only having 58mm threads (I use a step-down ring with it). My comparison for build quality is with circular polarizers, a Tiffen vs. a B+W 67mm F-Pro Kaesemann HT Circ Pol MRC Filter. The B+W is noticeably more solid and threads easier. As for performance of the ND filter, I find little vignetting throughout its entire range. The color cast is minor and consistent throughout the image at all stops. If you are going to use this with another 67mm filter, like a circular polarizer, you have to put the polarizer on first because the ND filter's outside threads are 72mm. Recently, I have been experimenting with longer exposures and find that I need more than 5 stops of light reduction. I think that the quality of this variable ND filter will allow me to add a solid 1.8 ND filter on top of it to get the additional light reduction that I desire without compromising image quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not for Lumix 8-18mm Lens I bought this filter to use with my Panasonic Lumix 8-18mm lens, but it displays bad vignetting with this lens. So I've gone with a set ofFormatt Hitech67mm Firecrest ND filters ( 0.6, 1.2, 1.8 NDs ) instead. I also own the 58mm size of this filter that works perfectly with my other Lumix lenses. ( 12-35mm f/2.8 and 35-100mm f/2.8 )

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality product! This is a superb nd filter! Unfortunately, I wanted to use it on my Zeiss Batiss 25mm lens which has a funky design and that won’t allow the hood to be on at the same time with this filter. It is either the hood or the filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 72mm Front Threads I bought it for my Schneider 28mm f/2.8 P. C. lens (Schneider recommends a B&W E-W filter that steps-up from 67mm to 82mm), this will cause vignetting so it goes back without taking picture 1 through it. Wish they had told me it has 72mm front threads, polarizing filter does go on by 2 full threads but it's probably intended just for a lens cap.
