Padcaster PCLC001 overview

  • 1Description

The Lenscaster & Padcaster Combo for iPad 2nd, 3rd & 4th Gen is designed to allow you to improve the quality of video shot using an iPad 2nd, 3rd or 4th Gen. The lightweight, brushed aluminum frame has 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 threaded holes around all edges for attaching external microphones, lights and other accessories. This allows for greater creative control over filming. A black urethane insert allows the iPad to fit snugly into the frame. The Padcaster can also be attached to a tripod, monopod or shoulder mount using the tripod thread and locking-pin hole. By removing the insert, you can use the frame as a DSLR cage for added versatility.

The included Lenscaster has a built-in 72mm thread that allows you to attach an SLR lens when used with a 35mm adapter (sold separately) to adjust the focus and depth of field. If you have a lens with a rear thread of 58mm, you'll need a step-up ring (sold separately). A 72-58mm step-down ring is included with the Lenscaster. When working with the built-in fixed lens of an iPad, different close-up filters can be used in front of the 35mm adapter with a lens connected to the end.

    Padcaster PCLC001 reviews

    Lenscaster & Padcaster Combo for iPad 2nd, 3rd & 4th Gen is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Idea I bought this to replace another tripod mount and am delighted with what came in the box. It is well-built and holds the iPad securely. I've even learned to thread the holes in the side for charging and earphones so I'm keeping the iPad in the Padcaster all the time. It is much easier to use on a tripod - making minor adjustments in now a simple process. I would recommend this even to amatuer photographers who like to use their iPad camera for fun and postings on web sites like Facebook.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really solid and useful tool. It's great! Works just as advertised. It was easy to set up and everything seems very durable. My iPad was quickly put into use as a more versatile video camera using a basic tripod, the FilmicPro app, and the Padcaster Lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never gonna give you up... I can already hear what you're saying... who in their right mind would even think about using an iPad to film?! Well let me tell you, this was a purchase made after long consideration. Sure, a somewhat established filmmaker will have a real DSLR but all I had was a iPad and the desire. I did over a month of research and going back and forth on bothering with my iPad and decided to go ahead with using it. Pairing this with the iPad turns it into a camera you can easily use to film auditions or webseries. With the right apps you can making filming easier and better. Edit the video right there on the iPad for a quick turn around. Another thing that won me over to the Padcaster as opposed to a few other less expensive options was it's durability and ability to be used with an actual DSLR as a rack. The whole point of my purchases was to future-proof them as much as possible. Now I can film my own or other people's auditions and edit them together with ease. Even when I get to purchasing a DSLR I think I may still use my iPad for simple and quick video content, especially for online.
