Intel S1400SP2 overview

  • 1Description

The S1400SP2 Server Board from Intel is a mainstream rack optimized 1S server board supporting one Intel Xeon Processor E5-2400, 6 DIMMs, 14 onboard SATA/SAS ports, external I/O module and internal ROC module.

ECC Memory Supported
This processor supports ECC (Error-Correcting Code) memory. ECC memory is a type of system memory that can detect and correct common kinds of internal data corruption. 1
Integrated Graphics
Integrated graphics allow for incredible visual quality, faster graphics performance and flexible display options without the need for a separate graphics card.
Embedded USB (eUSB) Solid State Drive Option
Embedded USB (eUSB) supports small USB flash storage devices which can be plugged directly into the board as well as used for mass storage or a boot device.
Intel Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d)
Intel Virtualization technology for Directed I/O (VT-d) continues the existing support for IA-32 (VT-x) and Itanium processor (VT-i) virtualization, adding new support for I/O-device virtualization. Intel VT-d helps improve security and reliability of systems as well as performance of I/O devices in virtualized environments.
Intel Trusted Execution Technology
Intel Trusted Execution technology for safer computing is a versatile set of hardware extensions to Intel processors and chipsets that enhance the digital office platform with security capabilities such as measured launch and protected execution. It enables an environment where applications can run within their own space, protected from all other software on the system. 2
AES New Instructions
Advanced Encryption Standard New Instructions (AES-NI) are a set of instructions that enable fast and secure data encryption and decryption. AES-NI is valuable for a wide range of cryptographic applications, including applications that perform bulk encryption/decryption, authentication, random number generation and authenticated encryption.
Intel Remote Management Module Support
The Intel Remote Management Module (Intel RMM) allows you to securely gain access and control servers and other devices from any machine on the network. Remote access includes remote management capability, including power control, KVM and media redirection, with a dedicated management network interface card (NIC).
Intel Intelligent Power Node Manager
Intel Intelligent Power Node Manager is a platform resident technology that enforces power and thermal policies for the platform. It enables data center power and thermal management by exposing an external interface to management software through which platform policies can be specified. This technology also enables specific data center power management usage models such as power limiting.
Trusted Platform Module
Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is a component on the desktop board which is specifically designed to enhance platform security above and beyond the capabilities of today's software by providing a protected space for key operations and other security critical tasks. Using both hardware and software, the TPM protects encryption and signature keys at their most vulnerable stages - operations when the keys are being used unencrypted in plain-text form.
Intel Matrix Storage Technology
Intel Matrix Storage technology provides protection, performance and expandability for desktop and mobile platforms. Whether using one or multiple hard drives, users can take advantage of enhanced performance and lower power consumption. When using more than one drive, the user can have additional protection against data loss in the event of hard drive failure.
Intel Fast Memory Access
Intel Fast Memory Access is an updated Graphics Memory Controller Hub (GMCH) backbone architecture that improves system performance by optimizing the use of available memory bandwidth and reducing the latency of memory accesses.
Intel Flex Memory Access
Intel Flex Memory Access facilitates easier upgrades by allowing different memory sizes to be populated and remain in dual-channel mode.
Intel I/O Acceleration Technology
Internal I/O expansion module indicates a mezzanine connector on Intel Server Boards, which supports a variety of Intel(r) I/O expansion modules using a x8 PCIe interface. These modules are either RoC (RAID-on-Chip) or SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) modules that are not used for external connectivity through the rear I/O panel.
Intel Advanced Management Technology
Intel Advanced Management technology features an isolated, independent, secure and highly reliable network connection with an Integrated Baseboard Management Controller (Integrated BMC) configuration from within BIOS. It also includes an embedded web user interface that launches key platform diagnostic capabilities over the network, an out-of-band (OOB) platform inventory, failsafe firmware updates and an automatic Integrated BMC stall detection and reset.
Intel Efficient Power Technology
Intel Efficient Power technology is a series of improvements within Intel power supplies and voltage regulators to increase power delivery efficiency and reliability. This technology is included in all common redundant power supplies (CRPS). CRPS includes the following technologies: 80 PLUS Platinum (92% efficient at 50% load) efficiency, cold redundancy, closed loop system protection, smart ride-through, dynamic redundancy detection, black box recorder, compatibility bus and auto firmware updates to provide more efficient power delivery to the system.
Intel Quiet Thermal Technology
Intel Quiet Thermal technology is a series of thermal and acoustic management innovations that reduce unnecessary acoustic noise and provide cooling flexibility while maximizing efficiency. The technology includes capabilities such as advanced thermal sensory arrays, advanced cooling algorithms and built-in failsafe shutdown protection.
